Ok I'm a parent of one child, I can barely go a few hours without checking to see if she is fine in her crib. You mean to tell me the mother never bothered to check on her FIVE babies again until practically dawn?!? If it was nearly 9:00pm by the time H.I. took Nathan Jr. that means the mother didn't check on the kids for at least another 8 hours.
shareWell, when she and Nathan SR first heard all the noise upstairs, she just sat there staring up at the ceiling with her mouth hanging open until he told her to check on the kids. It's probably just part of the character and the humor. That cracked me up, but then this whole movie still cracks me up to this day.
I don't believe they cared that much. It's always like that with big, rich families in movies.
shareYeah, I think that was the point. To show some people have kids because they think they have to; then they have no idea what to do when the kids get there. Some parents are just terrible. Just terrible.

Sometimes I go for years without checking up on my kids and they turn out fine...

That was about as realistic as the newborns being able to sit up and crawl, but in defense of that scene, it was just H.I.'s imaginative guess at how the discovery of the missing baby went down.

She should have checked the kids much sooner, busted HI before he wrassled up the young'uns and made of with junior, then we could have then finished the film and been on our way MUCH sooner!
Films should always show more reasonably responsible parents!!

Can you imagine how tired you would be trying to take care of five babies? I can completely understand if she was too weary to check on them.
