Does Van Helsing's journal ever say the virgin has to be a girl? They try so hard to find a virgin that's a girl to bring on limbo. But aren't all the kids in the Monster Squad virgins? Just curious.
BTW I love this movie, reminds me of when I was a little kid in the 80's.

I thought that too. I guess it has to be a girl, going back to that whole 'sexual sacrifice' tradition in horror movies... but it could just mean that they have to be relatively pure, in which case, they would all be eligible.
... as far as I remember, the movie never explicitly SAYS it has to be female.

As they say, reasoning would make things easier for the characters and the movie would be a lot shorter. Plus, the "is she a vershen" line is so great.

shareMost of the posters must be under 30. In movie lore as well in thousands of years of human society, female virgins are highly valued. Male virgins are the butt of jokes. Thus when you need a virgin for sacrifice, reading German, etc. -it's gonna be female. Hey, I don't make the rules.

In the movie, they never said that it's must be a female virgin, so even if it's "obvious", it's big plot hole. Without said that in a direct way, every boy there can to that.
