I cringe now with this scene
Being a father now and watching this movie with my young son I cringed when Dracula called the little girl a b*tch. I mean really? Was that needed? Cursing just to curse is not cool.

shareIt is cringeworthy. Because 1/ it's inappropriate 2/ it's inappropriate for the character. Dracula may be a monster but he's an aristocrat from the XIXth century in most movies (not talking about the Vlad origin), his manners should follow his attire. There's no way he'd say "bitch" to a little girl, that takes you out of the film. That's definitely a Shane Black's line, it's more Lethal Weapon than Goonies or Dracula.

Thinking of it, Dracula's line might have been better if he had said: "Give me the amulet, (you little) monster!", with deep sincere disgust.

I'm pretty sure Phoebe herself would tell you not to be such a chicken sh!t.
What does God need with a starship?
If you read the trivia section, you will see, she was really scared during the scene.
I am agree with the father:
1. Dracula have more class than this, I can't imagine one version of him, while he used this curse, it's out of character.
2. It's supposed to be a children movie not for adult, the whole movie is confusing.
He's Dracula. Historically, he has not been a very nice guy. I would be a bit more selective about what films you show to your son if you're really that concerned about it.
For the rest of us who watch films to have FUN, that was an awesome moment.
Hence the PG-13 rating. Not a big deal after all he's Dracula.
shareMaybe you shouldn't be trying to shield your son from the fact Dracula is not a very nice man at all.
Besides, a lot has changed in the last 30 years. Ironically both sensitivity and desensitization are way up in the past three decades. Not sure how that works, but work it does.
Never defend crap with 'It's just a movie'

Life is seen differently after you have a daughter. Makes me wonder what the rappers think from the early '90's now that they are fathers…

Dracula was a bad guy. Bad guys do that type of thing.
