As Cannon Films called it, they had a habit of over promoting films that didn't live up to expectations like touting Lifeforce as The Cinematic Sci Fi Event of The 80's which they shouldn't have done cause it's just attracting ridicule be like if you made a OK film noir movie and said it's The Godfather of the 2010's or a TV show being the TV event of the year, OK if it's coming from critics but when it's coming from the studio it would be making everyone laugh their heads off.
Cannon did actually call it that. It is in one of the trailers for the movie. I remember seeing the trailer in theaters when I was young and I couldn't wait for it to come out. As bad as the movie is, it is fun, and Frank Langella is great in it. I am kind of disappointed that Cannon went out of business before they could make the sequel. They ended up using the screen play and some of the sets to make Cyborg instead. I really wish tgat we would have gotten Masters part 2 instead. It would have been terrifically terrible (in a good way) to say the least.
No, they didn't. It's a quotation from Jim Whaley, host of "Cinema Showcase" on PBS, as I already said. Cannon used the quotation in some of their promotional materials for the movie, including on the VHS box:
So, he stated it first. I remember seeing either a trailer or a television spot for the movie and they used that line. I tried looking for it in Youtube, but my search came up empty. It really does sound like a line that Cannon would have used to promote one of their films.
When someone provides a quotation it is not a case of them stating something themselves; they are simply relaying what someone else has stated, i.e., they are simply a messenger.
I'm aware of that. However, as I stated in my earlier post I could have sworn that they used that tagline in one of their trailers. Apparently I was mistaken.
