I'm debating on getting the blu ray right now cause i don't know if i should just wait for the 4K, does anyone know if theres plans for a 4K release anytime soon?

shareIt's rumoured to be coming out this year, a 35th anniversary 4K.
No official confirmation or release date just yet, just murmerings from 'insiders'.
Also Poltergeist is supposedly coming to 4K too, it's 40 years old this year.
I have the blu-ray. It looks great!
shareT-minus 5 days...
shareYeah i got the Zavvi steel book set pre ordered. Which 4K release are you getting?
shareI just pre-ordered the standard 4K on Amazon. That's my usual method. No special/limited editions, cheapest available 4K option. I care most about the film and it's transfer, so operate as cost effective as possibe.
These 4K releases are draining me.
Cat People & The Funhouse in the past few weeks. Then we have Friday the 13th & The Fog this week, next week it's The Lost Boys & Poltergeist, then the following week I Know What You Did Last Summer, Evil Dead (2013) & The Amityville Horror (1979).
Not to mention films like Scream 2 and Return of the Living Dead among others that aren't far from release.
Give me strength.
Yeah i hear you, a ton of 4K's coming gout so close together. Definitely plan on getting Return Of The Living Dead on 4K next.
shareIt's showing at a local theater in October and I think I'll go since it will probably be the 4k version.
shareVery good transfer. Warner Bros' did a great job with this and Poltergeist (1982). Fingers crossed the rumored The Exorcist (1973) 50th anniversary 4K gets similar treatment.
shareI imported the steelbook from France, wasn’t cheap but the cover for the standard edition is atrocious.
The 4K picture quality is excellent, and they even restored the original WB logo at the beginning which fits the creepy ‘cry little sister…’ much better than the glossy modern CGI logo used on the old blu.
