Probably the most depressing kids' movie I've ever seen

Don't remember what I thought of it when I was little, but looking at it it looks really depressing. There's so much doom and gloom in it, and some pretty scary parts for a kids' movie.

I watched this movie tons of times when I was a kid. We had it on a VHS tape. I LOVED this movie, I never once thought it was depressing, dark, or scary. Personally I can think of some kids movies that are far darker than this one, IMO.

There or may not actually exist such a thing as a true "kids" movie, but this surely ain't it.

I remember both being sort of afraid of this movie and loving it to death as a kid. Scenes would bring me to *beep* tears like you can't imagine. I haven't seen the movie in years and despite being 20 now, this movie still moves me and brings me to tears. It's by far the darkest and most complex movie aimed for kids that I've ever seen.

I think you need to toughen up a bit. I saw this when I was 6 and I was fine.

Uhhh ever see The Peanut Butter Solution? Or hell even Pinocchio.

Pinnichio was dark at times. Then again Watership Down had an insane amount of violence for an animated movie about rabbits.
