Remake?
Good movie, but I think it would be good to do a remake of it. It is prolly the only movie ever made that I actually want to see a remake for

shareI guess but they better not exaggerate with CG
shareThat's the problem with remakes. Taking pre-CGI 1980's movies and CGI-ing it up like crazy is not the answer. A little is ok but too much is a bad thing. Abandoning a good story because they have a huge CGI budget.

As far a remake is concerned, sounds good to me. But there is really no need. It was perfect the way it was. The visual effects were so good in HD that you could barely tell. I mean some scenes could be cleaner, but it was made in the 80's so I let those slide. Lol
And I noticed someone is a smallville fan!!! One of my fav lines in the whole series is your quote!
"I'm a Repo man!" (Jack, LOST)
Thanks a dawg! Smallvilles is my favorite show. I've been a fan of Superman since I was 4 years old. I've got some of the comics too, one of which is signed by the artists who did the artwork. I'm glad the show is still going strong and the new direction they are taking with it.

Why must every film be remade now? Fact is nearly every remake ever made has sucked, This films effects by and large have aged pretty well, it's best to leave well enough alone because they aren't going to recapture the charm.
shareYes, this is true. Most remakes really inhale canal water.

One serious exception to the remake rule is The Maltese Falcon. The 1941 Bogie version was a remake of a 1931 movie (which came from a book) and beat the 1931 version INTO OBSCURITY!!! :)
My name... is GEO!!!
Very good examples.
The only other 2 remakes that i remember that didn't suck and actually were better than the originals are THE THING and THE FLY.
P.S.:Whoever dares to say that the original FLY is better is nuts, that may have been a classic in its time but didn't age well, so much as to be truly sad to watch today.

Fact is nearly every remake ever made has sucked, This films effects by and large have aged pretty well, it's best to leave well enough alone because they aren't going to recapture the charm.I know, seriously! THERE IS NO NEED TO REMAKE IT. WTF does EVERY damn movie HAVE to be remade in the first place?! I am sick to death of remakes! The only thing that this literal flood of remakes indicates, is the lack of creativity & ideas coming from the VACUUM that is known as "Hollywood" And the fact that the American public actually expects remakes, and suggests remakes, indicates that we are willing to accept this emptiness that Vacuumwood is spoonfeeding us as THE NORM. WHY? It's not OK! They're making money by not even trying; they're making money off of ideas that made money the first time around, on the assumption that they will do so again, if they just put a modern spin on it, and sometimes they don't even bother to do that! Sometimes they remake a movie so exact that it makes you wonder why they even bothered in the first place. It cheapens the appreciation people should have for older movies. It teaches young people that instead of appreciating the older movies for the time they represent, they should be updated because the old "version" is, well, old. Giving "old" a negative spin, when it shouldn't. The term "old people" is almost an insult, when there's actually nothing literally negative to the term "old people" in the first place! Old people are experienced and interesting, and so are old movies.
There is absolutely no reason to remake this movie.
shareWhat the heck for? Hollywood should be using their funds to finance original ideas and not-before-adapted great books etc, not remaking perfectly good films.
"Some of their number had been lost and those who had survived were weary"
Please absolutely no remakes on this film ! It's a perfect classic that must never be remade IMPO . Thanks kel_115124 for your subject post .
shareNo I'm not english and that's why my writing can be horrible sometimes. Enjoy or not:
I'm so SICK of all the remakes since the last couple of years and the remakes that are about to be made. Sometimes I wonder how the big hotshots in Hollywood even have the nerve to demand that people should pay for the crap on the theatres when they even can't produce a new movie of their own. Instead they do remakes of everything. I wouldn't be suprised if they in 5-8 years will do a new remake from todays remakes.
I do agree a few movies would perhaps be better with a remake. Very few.
But this one?? No, and no again!!!
I don't need better effects or CGI for this one either. Everything is allready perfect as it is:
*A nice story
*Great performance
*Good chemistry between the actors
...etc
If an old movie have all that most of the people don't really care about the old effects or what ever.
A movie is not all about stunning CGI. Many movies today with awsome CGI is actually destroyed and awful because of bad acting and the lack of a great story.
Btw, do u call it "CGI"?? I may be wrong about that.
@Sure I could be polite and courteous but where's the fun in that?
Streak continues... every movie in the history of cinema has a retard starting a thread pleading for a remake
shareI love this film. One reason is that, apart from the bad guys, the characters are played by actors who’ve made every one of the residents engaging. I felt for all of them as they struggled against big business. And the little aliens added to the whole experience. I never thought that piles of metal, lights and bleeping noises could have me rooting for them all! A remake would probably not be as enjoyable to watch. Jessica Tandy would be dificult to replace and so would many of the other cast members.
