the sex scene with Dean and Jessie.... they probably weren't going at it in real life but it sure looked like it.... they were sweaty, totally into it. Thats how you know the sex is phenomenal! LOL
Know what you mean about the sex scene, I think it was the first one I ever saw in a movie and Cynthia Gibb was the first lady I ever saw naked! So for this reason I have had a crush on her ever since and she still looks hot today! As a kid I remember thinking "that looks fun!" I would have been about 9 when I first saw this film so you know what I'm talking about. I Love you cynthia XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

This is so weird - I saw this film in 1987 - and like the others - also the first time I had seen a lady naked - i remember being a little bit dissapointed at her doing that at the time - maybe adolescent jealousy, but I guess I also had put her on a pedestal. I remebered Cynthia Gibb from her Fame days as Holly and have had a crush on her ever since the first moment I saw her. What a mouth! Even today, almost 20 years later, and happily married, I still get butterflies when I hear of her or see pics of her - she is still such a biscuit! Absolutely beautiful.
Thanks for your stories guys - the 80's rocked! :-) Cheers!
And we forget because we must and not because we will.(Unknown)
Hey dude, You think cynthia rocks too ? Thats so cool, I will never forget her and everytime there is a movie with her in on the TV I always stay up to watch it all the way through ! Have you seen her in "Gypsy" shes fanastic! Take it easy, Steve
I have always heard a rumor that says that real sex was going on during the sex scene. Of course, this is not substantiated by anything. Just one of those things I heard. Anyone else?
This is funny. I saw the movie on "Vs" last night and realized I hadn't seen it since the 80s. I remembered loving it back then for the sole reason you guys have stated. I associate that scene and Leah Thompson's scene w/Tom Cruise in "All the Right Moves" as KEY moments to my early (we're talking 5-8 years old) "adult education".
Of course, on Vs. they cut the entire scene out. :(
It's really weird because I agree with everyone else. I saw this when i was, i guess, about 11 and never been so excited in my life. It's one of the few MOVIE love scenes that i never forget.
Am I right in thinking they get caught when an old lady walks in?
Also I agree with All The Right Moves - another classic, definitely in the top 10 of all time.
"Same post also mentions he tried the same ploy with Meg Tilly in Masquarade, and she uh told him no.."
Actually in "Masquerade" I heard Tilly insisted he wear a condom before the sex scene was filmed. I also doubt that Tilly said "no" to him. Let's face it--Lowe was INCREDIBLY beautiful back then and had a great body. Also that sex scene between him and Tilly looks WAY too realistic to be faked. I heard the same thing happened in "About Last Night"...him and Demi Moore were NOT faking it (which might explain why Emilio Estevez broke his long engagement with her after that movie came out).
There are serveral problems with the idea that they were having real sex during that scene.
One is the idea that two people would actually start to have real sex in front of a film crew. I've heard of some modest actresses refusing to disrobe until all of the unecessary people are out of the area, but it still takes a number of people to film a scene, so that's opening yourself up in a very personal, intimate way in front of quite a few people.
Second is the fact that real sex sometimes looks a bit awkward. Don't believe me? Film yourselves the next time you do it and watch it. You don't look nearly as good as you think you do.
Third, filming a sex scene that looks good often takes a while. Mulitple takes, different angles, starts, stops, etc. With that happening all around, how long do you think you could keep going.
While I can acknowledge that some real sex "might" have happened at some point during the filming of that scene, it just doesn't seem very likely, and even if it did, who says that any of that actually made it into the finished film?
I saw this in my early years as a teen and, to this day, I have a huge crush on Cynthia Gibb. Plus, that scene of her and Rob Lowe having sex ended up making long underwear(on a woman) sexy and sensual as can be, to me anyways.
This is a really late comment in an old thread, but I want to share this information that I found on IMDB under the trivia page of Youngblood (1986):
"In 1994, a magazine wrote that Rob Lowe used to ask to his female costars if he could "put it in" during sex scenes and that Cynthia Gibb was one of those who said yes. Although the sex scene in this film does not show the actual penetration, the sexual chemistry that exists between the two actors (just see Lowe squeezing Gibb's butt) seems to confirm the magazine's story."
Take this information with a grain of salt. That said, they're may be some truth to it. Who knows!?
Not to sound like a Maude Flanders, but I felt that the sex scene was pointlessly graphic.
It's an R rated movie about teens, so of course there's going to be sex, but I've seen sex scenes in many other R rated movies that weren't anywhere close to as graphic as this one. There was no need for the close up shots, and it added absolutely nothing to the story.
Also, why do I have this feeling that Rob Lowe requesting to "put it in" had less to do with artistic purposes and more to do with the fact that he was a medically diagnosed sex addict at the time?
but I felt that the sex scene was pointlessly graphic.
All movie sex scenes are gratuitous unless you're watching an erotic thriller that's centred on t&a.
It's a red flag when you see random tits or hump scenes that come out of nowhere because it usually means the script sucks and they're overcompensating e.g. that blimp kate winslet's tits in titanic - cameron put that in because he knew he wrote a shit script and that would distract people from the love story sucking.
That said, I'm not complaining since Cynthia Gibb was an underrated actress and pretty hot too, and it was better watching that scene than watching what happened to her character in Salvador.

Agreed. Even as a hockey fan I found the movie to be overrated. And IIRC Youngblood only made it on to the team on a tryout that was intended just for the playoffs? That alone is hokey writing.
Movie didn't age well, either. Chalked full of 80's cheese.
Yeah agreed. It's a mediocre film despite having a great cast in Swayze, Lowe and Keanu. I was expecting it to be much better based on the actors and story.
If you want to watch a better ice hockey movie from that era, then I recommend this film starring Michael Keaton called Touch & Go, you can watch it for free on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOE0BfOpTuI
