One of the worst films I've EVER seen...

Now, don't get me wrong. I think both "Troll" films are enjoyable to watch (not because of how bad they are) and they are considered not only the worst horror films of all time but the worst films ever in any genre. However, I just finished watching "Slaughter High" and thought it was one of the most unlikable and crappy films I've ever seen.

The first rule to make a slasher film is to make the victims have likability or a reason to live so that when they are in peril, the audience can care for them and engage into your film. In this film, NONE of the characters are likable. Not even the killer, Marty is likable. He starts off as a sex-driven idiot who thinks with his penis instead of his brain and when he becomes heavily disfigured. Are we supposed to feel for him so that means HE is the protagonist and the bullies are the antagonists. Fair enough. Except the fact that Marty was a gullible pervert. And don't get me started on the "bullies", I guess you could say they're supposed to be unlikable so that the audience can cheer for the killer murdering them. But how can you cheer for the killer if he's unlikable too?!?

Two other things that's horrible about this horrible film are the cringeworthy acting that makes the cast of "Troll 2" belong in the AFI and worst of all, the score. The total running time of the incredibly annoying, synth score is roughly only 5 minutes long. Those 5 minutes repeat and repeat in this film until your ears start to bleed from that annoying jingle that pretty much sums up the entire film.

If you want to spend Saturday night with a great horror flick, avoid this piece of trash like the flu.

I actually agree with you even though I do like the film for nostalgic reasons. The fact that none of the characters are likeable is a serious flaw. I'm not saying they ALL have to be likeable, but at least give us ONE person to root for!

It's not that bad plot wise. The thing that bugged me (same as with the very popular "Grease") is that the majority of the kids did not look like they were young enough for high school.

Then you haven't seen many of them. It's actually fairly average slasher movie, and horror movie in general. You can go miles worse. Not gonna pretend it's amazing movie, because it's not, but it was sorta fun to watch because it's kinda weird. In fact it doesn't look like slasher movie at all, it looks and feels more like 70s gothic horror, only gory version of it.

The first rule to make a slasher film is to make the victims have likability or a reason to live so that when they are in peril, the audience can care for them and engage into your film.

Said no horror movie ever. This is more of a "audiences" excuse for not liking a movie, then "horror rule". In fact, I don't find any of characters in horror movies relatable most of the time, and with about 99% of "modern" horror movies, not even likable at all, especially in modern slasher movies. That doesn't make them necessary a bad movies.

In this film, NONE of the characters are likable.

Yeah, won't disagree there. They are just cannon fodder. Carol was suppose to be "your girl", but she isn't that interesting as a character. Caroline Munro on the other hand, gorgeous as ever.

Not even the killer, Marty is likable.

He wasn't suppose to be. He's a KILLER.

He starts off as a sex-driven idiot who thinks with his penis instead of his brain and when he becomes heavily disfigured.

And you wouldn't think with your penis when Caroline Munro supposedly wants to have sex with you? xD

Are we supposed to feel for him so that means HE is the protagonist and the bullies are the antagonists. Fair enough.

He isn't PROTAGONIST, he is ANTAGONIST. Learn the difference. Carol is protagonist.

Except the fact that Marty was a gullible pervert.

So wanting to have sex makes you a pervert these days? He was a geek who probably never even had 5 minute conversation with a girl, which is why they play joke on him. He wasn't a pervert, he was just a loser who couldn't figure out something's up.

And don't get me started on the "bullies", I guess you could say they're supposed to be unlikable so that the audience can cheer for the killer murdering them.

Yep. Your usual slasher movie cannon fodder.

But how can you cheer for the killer if he's unlikable too?!?

Well you didn't. You were suppose to be cheering for Carol, but as I said, she wasn't very interesting character and barely had any personality at all. Did I mention that Caroline Munro is gorgeous already?

Two other things that's horrible about this horrible film are the cringeworthy acting that makes the cast of "Troll 2" belong in the AFI and worst of all, the score.

I call out you haven't even watch the "Troll 2". Sure, this movie had some quite terrible acting, but it was "Gone With the Wind" compared to "Troll 2" acting. Actors in Troll 2 felt like half-blind people were reading from the paper from about five feet distance away.

The total running time of the incredibly annoying, synth score is roughly only 5 minutes long. Those 5 minutes repeat and repeat in this film until your ears start to bleed from that annoying jingle that pretty much sums up the entire film.

Yeah, I've notice lack of music too, which was kinda weird. Not even the ambient sounds. Main theme which is sorta the only song that plays is kinda creepy-weird, but obviously outdated due to synth sound.

If you want to spend Saturday night with a great horror flick, avoid this piece of trash like the flu.

not really, this was bad, but quite amusing due to it being so weird.

Also,in most slasher movies,it's almost a written rule that all characters have to do dumb things;go into abandoned schools at night to a class reunion that no one else attends,go into rooms that shouldn't be in schools at all, like bathrooms with tubs and bedrooms and basically not act rationally at all,but then again, who acts rational when running for your life from a psycho-killer even in real-life?

The school looked too English.
