To bad Ali Sheed couldn't be in part 2

I just watched this movie again last night and seeing her with Johnny 5 was so cute and funny. She really loved that robot and it was sad during the end when she cried because she thought he was dead. She was very entertaining in the movie.

Sequels like that bug me, where most of the original cast doesn't return with the exception of the main character and one supporting character and they don't really have any good reason for not being there. Like Poltergeist 3, where Carol Anne's family pretty much gives her away to Tom Skerritt and Robocop's partner.

Hey Cynthia Gibb was OK

Yes, although short circuit 2 was as good as the first (very few movies make good sequels), for some reason the Goot wasn't in it and neither was Stephanie.

The studio apparently didn't ask both Guttenberg and Sheedy to be in the sequel for whatever reason. To this day, Guttenberg states that he wishes he had the chance to be in Short Circuit 2.

Personally, I didn't miss him or Sheedy. I think the sequel is just as good, if not better, than the first movie thanks to Fisher Stevens' and how the script have more character depth and development to all the characters, especially Johnny 5.

I always figured Guttenberg & Sheedy refused to do the sequel for the same reasons a lot of other actors do ie poorer script etc.

There's plenty of info on this. You're just too stupid to find it apparently. Sheedy demanded too much money, and Guttenberg turned it down because he was never given a script to approve.

There's no need for the stupid comment. I have looked it up and there are a few different stories surrounding this.

There is what you stated which is that Sheedy wanted too much money and Guttenberg turned it down because there was no script to show him.

Then at another time, Guttenberg himself stated that they didn't have the money he wanted to do the sequel. See this interview: http://www.avclub.com/article/steve-guttenberg-police-academy-party-down-and-tur-222690

"AVC: Had you ever been in talks to do Short Circuit 2?

SG: Yeah. I was, absolutely. But, uh, no money. They didn’t pay the money.

AVC: Fair enough.

SG: Yeah. They’ve got to pay the money! [Laughs.]"

Then, the director of the sequel, Kenneth Johnson, had mentioned when I attended his directing class that the studio didn't want them back. So clearly there isn't a clear understanding as to why the two of them weren't in the movie.
