Haha, was I the only one who found Freddy more handosme than George?

Huh ?

My eyes were glued on Freddy while I could easily ignore George.[blish]

Was I the only one...??

I thought Freddy was pretty cute, but George is sexy in ways other than how he looks (to me anyway.)When I saw the film as a kid, I was far more attracted to Freddy. When I saw it again a short time ago, I thought George was far more attractive.

reply

Haha, maybe. Maybe because George looked 'too old' to me and Freddy looked like as if he 18 or so... Maybe that's why.

reply

Yeah, I first saw the film when I was 11-12, so I think that's why I thought Freddy was "sooooo cuute!" When I saw it a couple weeks ago (and now I'm 22), I thought George was lookin' pretty fine.

reply

Maybe... plus.. I don't really like blonde guys.

Humph! I thought the really sexy one was the fat hairy Vicar! Does it have to do with my age, do you think?

How old are you, Mandy ?

I thought Freddy was gorgeous, I found myself unexpectedly grinning every time he was on screen.

reply

Well, if you love Freddy, then watch "Death at a Funeral".

That might explain it.

Yes! Rupert Graves has aged MUCH better than Julian Sands. Check out their pix here on their IMDB pages.

Of course Lucy didn't have our choice, Freddy being her brother and all, but they were a couple in a subsequent film, "Where Angels Fear to Tread", I think it was.

reply

I wouldn't throw either one of them out of bed for eating crackers....

reply

I take it that you can't decide...?

reply

Haha.. I'm not sure that I'm not envisioning a menage a trois, but I guess what I mean is, why must one choose? I'd take them both, together or separately. If I absolutely had to choose, it's probably George, but only by a hair (pun intended: I prefer blonds, as a rule).

reply

Oh I see.

but I guess what I mean is, why must one choose? I'd take them both, together or separately.

Now that's a sensible person there...

Freddy, all the way. But then again, I prefer darker haired guys.

Damn, I thought they were both cute; I didn't know where to look when they were in a scene together. :D

Funnily enough...I didn't think Rupert Graves was hot at all in "Maurice," where he played a much larger part. He had some adorable material to work with...

OMG, I'm sorry, but I have to disagree! I first saw Rupert Graves in this movie, and then had to search out Maurice. I think he was amazingly hot in that movie! Of course, both films showed quite a lot of him, if you know what I mean! What a fine young man! He's got those deep-set brown bedroom eyes. The funny thing about Rupert is that he really looks so different in every role. He's aged very well, too. Have you seen him as Lestrade in Sherlock?

Julian Sands was attractive in this, but his character was a bit too intense for me.

reply

As far as age affecting preference, I've just watched the film, I'm 17, and I have to say I'd choose Freddy. He is absolutely adorable! I love how his bangs are always falling in his face, and when he goes over to meet George and just atuomatically asks him if he'd like to bathe...

George is, well, sexier, and handsomer in a traditional way, but I still prefer Freddy. Also, I thought George was pretty unactractive and annoying when Lucy first met him in Italy.

reply

What a great question! It's tough to answer. When I first saw the film I was about 32 and though I had seen Julian Sands already in the (very strange!) sci-fi/comedy, "Vibes", and thought him quite handsome, I was very taken with Freddy. The character of George was kind of mopey and weird, whereas Freddy was upbeat and hilarious, not to mention cute! I liked his good relationship with Lucy and his standing up to Cecil.

As a couple people have written, why not have them both? I'd draw the line at a physical thing with Mr Beebe, though he was a great guy. He was like the same character he played in "Four Weddings and a Funeral".

It's hilarious that nobody mentioned Daniel Day Lewis as a viable choice! He's like a wooden statue, even in films like "Last of the Mohicans" or "The Age of Innocence". Ugh. He should make a good Abraham Lincoln, though.

As for Rupert Graves, I recently saw the remake of "The Forsyte Saga", with him as Young Jolyon (one of my fave characters) and he did it justice, though was far more prone to anger and hysterics than Jolyon in the novel. But he has aged well!

If you want to see a luscious Julian Sands in a period film, check him out as the famous composer and ladies' man, Franz Liszt in "Impromptu". He and Hugh Grant (who plays Frederic Chopin) have some great scenes together. Sadly, I think the last thing I've seen Sands in was the show "Law & Order"!

She deserves her revenge, and we deserve to die.

I liked Freddy too, George was a little too goofy for me at times. Like when he was in the tree and shouting...whatever it was that he was shouting...I really wasn't feeling that scene. It made George less attractive, but anyway Freddy was indeed a cutie.

reply

They were both yummy in different ways. I was more attracted to Freddy however, because George seemed like such a weirdo and I can't handle such moodiness.

reply

The actor Rupert Graves is just plain gorgous :)

reply

No. Rupert Graves was beautiful.
