Was anyone else traumatized by this movie?

When I was really little....from about ages 4 to 8, I used to rent this movie routinely from a run down local video rental place. I think everybody at one time or another, has known one of those stores in their lifetime. You know what I mean. Those run-down, dusty little shacks with all sorts of obscure VHS movies from the 80's and early 90's. It used to be so fun to pick out the weirdest, cheapest looking movie and go home and get creeped out.

Well, anyway......my mom unwittingly rented King Kong Lives for me, and I used to watch it over and over with my brother, cousin, and our friends. It almost traumatized me (especially the scene where the hunters get killed. If I remember correctly, a guy gets ripped in half, and another guy in a white shirt and a sports hat get eaten, and then king kong pulls the guy's hat out of his mouth when he's done chewing.) So, as far as I know, I can still remeber those scenes....and it's been almost 10 years since I've seen the movie.

It's so ridiculous and absurd that such an allegedly stupid movie would leave such a lasting impression on me. ROFL.

I wouldn't say traumatized, but it's pretty damn violent. Lot's of blood and graphic violence. And honestly for a "bad movie" it can be surprisingly sad. Seeing Long get torn up like that is tough to watch.

I had a very similar experience as you. I was 6 when it came out. Back then, it took AT LEAST a year for movies to be released on video, so I was probably 7-8 the first time I saw it, and I too watched it many times between the ages of 7-10. I thought it was awesome and have seen in 10 times more than the 76 movie.
