Was anyone else traumatized by this movie?

When I was really little....from about ages 4 to 8, I used to rent this movie routinely from a run down local video rental place. I think everybody at one time or another, has known one of those stores in their lifetime. You know what I mean. Those run-down, dusty little shacks with all sorts of obscure VHS movies from the 80's and early 90's. It used to be so fun to pick out the weirdest, cheapest looking movie and go home and get creeped out.

Well, anyway......my mom unwittingly rented King Kong Lives for me, and I used to watch it over and over with my brother, cousin, and our friends. It almost traumatized me (especially the scene where the hunters get killed. If I remember correctly, a guy gets ripped in half, and another guy in a white shirt and a sports hat get eaten, and then king kong pulls the guy's hat out of his mouth when he's done chewing.) So, as far as I know, I can still remeber those scenes....and it's been almost 10 years since I've seen the movie.

It's so ridiculous and absurd that such an allegedly stupid movie would leave such a lasting impression on me. ROFL.

The only thing that traumatized me about this movie was how incredibly bad it was.

LOL That's how I was introduced to the movie too, and thats about the age when I first saw it. The hunter scene really freaked me out, and when I saw the movie at the library the other day that scene popped back into mind. I just watched it again, and it was actually better than I remember.

I was scared out of my mind when he rips the guy in half and then eats another bloke! Can't believe this is only a PG!

"Hey! Ladies! That was fun!"

reply

Yeah. But nothing is worse than Kong stepping on the those natives until they turn into mushy puddles of blood in the original 1933 movie.

I find it rather amazing that you were Traumatized by Kong killing two hick lowlifes who were tormenting him & not by seeing Kong Die in front of his Infant Son. now THAT part was Traumatizing! nuff said!

THE OLDSCHOOL HERO!

It has been so long since I saw it. I didn't really cotton on to it very much as a child, it would appear. But they sound like they got what they deserved!
