"The Final Chapter" is an actual slasher horror movie with good acting, great atmosphere & cinematography, excellent kills, one of the best Jason performances.
"Jason Lives" is a comedic slasher that turned the franchise into a parody of itself.
There hasn't been a quality entry since "The Final Chapter".
"It's October...and we all know what that means."
I prefer the first three in the series overall, but between these two I definitely like "Jason Lives" more -- it's more clever, fun, and entertaining. I don't understand the love for "The Final Chapter"

I get that many people find Part VI to be "fun" and "entertaining". It parodies James Bond in the opening credits.
I just find it stupid because it's so out of context. It had established itself as a horror/slasher series with very little emphasis on comedy.
The Final Chapter, on the other hand, stuck to its roots with its intent. Much better atmosphere, writing, acting, and better kills.
I'd rather the series had ended with The Final Chapter than become a parody of itself.

I prefer Jason Lives. The Final Chapter's tone is too bleak for me and the characters are largely annoying all around. I would rather leave the house of foot and risk a Jason attack than stay behind closed doors with those folks.

Meh, I think both are a little overrated, but at least this one had a more coherent plot, and more likable characters (with the exception of Megan).
However, I think Final Chapter had the better climax (and better gore too ;P).
Let the storm rage on, the cold never bothered me anyway...
