Wes Cravens worst movie is................. ...............

In my opinion it's Wes Cravens New Nightmare" which i found to be a pile of rubbish, especially with that ugly annoying kid who played Heathers son!!! I HATE that movie!!!! Deadly Friend is cool tho, good 80's fun! :o)

Scream didn't live upto the hype,Scream 2 was even more stupid,i didn't even bother with the 3rd.Deadly Friend was really good, but was letdown by the ending. Can anyone tell me if it was different from the novel?

reply

Yeah the ending was very different. The book wraps things up with Sam just about to jump to her death in a ravine, Paul grabs hold of her and whispers "so this is what love is" and the pair of them dive in to the abyss.

reply

thanks, that ending would've been much better, they did a similar thing in Return Of The Living Dead 3 which seemed to work ok.

The Hills Have Eyes Part II is the worst!

reply

Cravens worst movie is Scream 3.

Serpant and the Rainbow was good. It had Bill Pullman. I saw that in the theaters.

I liked Red Eye, Wes craven's new nightmare,

Deadly friend had a great cast. sure it has flaws and a few gory scenes that didn't need to be in it, but It had Kristy Swanson/ i saw this in the thaters when I was eleven.

A nightmare on Elm st was good.

Scream was fine. It just started the dreaded rip-offs. lol

Carnival of souls was presented by wes Craven, wasn't great but I liked Shawnee Smith as the sister and the music was good.

Wes Craven presented Wishmaster which was hit and miss. It was great to see Tammy Lauren though.

I enjoyed Wes craven presnted They. I was surprised, I hated it in the theaters but on DVD, it was much better.

I liked the remake of the hills have eyes over the 70's version. better pace in my opinion.

the last house on the left was hard to watch.

Chiller was fine as a TV movie. I like Jill Schoelen (the stepfather).

Deadly blessing was a hit and miss film that was down right scary in some places. but it had everything but the kitchen sink in this film. It was fun to see Sharon stone in a horror film.

Cursed had Joshua Jackson. I like Joshua Jackson. It could have been a better film if it wasn't geared towards teengers. the DVD had extra moments so there is more gore. it was writen by Kevin Williamson.

Shocker was terrible!

yeah Wes Craven might be overrated. LOL

reply

Cursed. The scene where Christina Ricci says the werewolf has a fat A$$ and it jumps out and gives her the finger is probobly the lamest thing I've ever seen done in a werewolf story. The fact that it's in the movie at all is pretty sad, but this actualy occurs as part of the climax.

Yup, that hilarious gag really added to the tension of your otherwise mediocre film's finale. Great job, Wes.

The Hills Have Eyes 2 is not just one of Wes' worst, but also one of the worst movies ever made.

Shocker

reply

Well, thats just plain rude. Calling a child ugly, which by the way he has a name. Its Miko Hughes. He's absolutely adorable.

The reason Wacko Jacko died is because it's heart just couldn't BEAT IT anymore.

Besides Hills Have Eyes 2, pretty much every movie with "Wes Craven Presents" in the title...and, out of those Mind Ripper/Hills Have Eyes 3 was especially awful.

Deeeeeeep hurting!!!!!!!

OH MY GOD! YOU CAN'T KILL BECCA

I have to defend New Nightmare here.

I think people hated it because it wasn't the Freddy movie they expected. Instead it's a really smart movie that plays with ideas of perception.
It's all the more interesting because it's so difficult to categorise, horror, drama, psychological thriller, whatever. I've never gotten tired of watching it.

It has a truly great (intellectual) moment where Freddy has been teasing throughout the movie, but Nancy has been clinging on to reality. Nancy then decides to abandon reality and take the sleeping pills and truly believe in Freddy. At that moment, good ole claw hand comes ripping through the bed in a brilliant entrance. Nancy had completed her arc from the first movie and reverted to believing in the boogyman for a final showdown.
All of this was completely lost on people who were sitting there expecting Freddy to turn up and kill a bunch of good-looking teens.

New Nightmare = WIN!

reply

Agree, it was much more than just a slasher sequel. The plot was well thought out and as you say it suggests that Freddy only exists in the minds of his victims. Belief gives him his power to exist.

reply

Well it's a few years after this thread was posted but My Soul To Take takes the cake for me, only reason I sat through the whole movie in the theaters was because I fell asleep.

reply

Amen. Not only is "My Soul to Take" Craven's worst movie, but it's also one of HOLLYWOOD'S worst movies. Of all time.
