Wes Cravens worst movie is................. ...............

In my opinion it's Wes Cravens New Nightmare" which i found to be a pile of rubbish, especially with that ugly annoying kid who played Heathers son!!! I HATE that movie!!!! Deadly Friend is cool tho, good 80's fun! :o)

reply

Last House on the Left is his worst film.

reply

PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

CURSED - Last House on the left was his 1st movie and almost 40 years old now so I can cut him a little leeway but to make Cursed with all the knowledge you should have gained by now is ridiculous.

reply

but new nightmare had the redesigned glove, last house on the left has that bitchin ending, and the people under the stairs was great at the time...

now scream, that was terrible... plus it almost killed the genre of horror for 6 years...

And unto the people, a child will be born. Part man, Part cylon.

reply

k here we go:
scream was awesome. he directed extremely well.
red eye rocked!
new nightmare had the new glove
last house on the left had the 'good' ending
and
deadly friend was awesome (high 80s)

his worst is: music of the heart! ahhh i hate musicals!!!

Try watching Wes Craven's Carnival of Souls....you might end up rethinking which of his movies is the worst.

Yep shocker is definitely one of Cravens crappers. Add to his ever growing list: Last House On The Left, Curse, The Hills Have Eyes, The Serpent & The Rainbow & Redeye.

reply

I haven't seen most of those movies you listed so I really couldn't say I heard they were bad. The Serpant and the Rainbow however was a great movie and definitely shouldn't be considered one of his worst.

You might have the worst taste in Horror I've ever seen in another human being.

yeah, id go with Shocker too. I remember renting this stinker in the 80's and couldnt believe it was so bad. Always remember the scenes on the football pitch where you can see the shadows of the boom mic operators and camera man on the ground. very sad.

reply

yes! Spot on, music of the heart = crraaaaaapppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

reply

I thoroughly enjoyed Scream for one reason - it didn't try to take itself seriously. Wes Craven was making fun of the genre that made him famous. What's wrong with that?

I had the pleasure of seeing both this stink bomb AND "Shocker" in the theaters during their original runs. I'm actually convinced that Wes Craven has never made a good movie.

reply

Cursed. Argument over...though Deadly Friend was pretty cheesy.

reply

Umm, hello? Does anybody remember "The Hills Have Eyes Part 2" (which he wrote and directed)? His worst movie ever.

reply

Scream. Not only was it bad, but it spawned a new generation of utter crap horror movies.

At least his other bad movies were pretty harmless. :)

I couldn't agree more, Undeadair..

The Hills Have Eyes Part 2.

reply

i have to say that alot of you are on target but I will go with carnival of souls if you think about it wes has made quite a few stinkers.

It was totally CHILLER, I couldn't even sit through the whole thing.

I found Chiller on dvd w/ Poe's Tell Tale Heart for only a $1. Yeah it's that bad. LOL Whoever said People Under the Stairs...nooooo. I liked that movie. LOL It was sh**ty and funny at the same time. If a movie's gonna be bad then it better have something to laugh about to save it.

Scream without a doubt since it was stupid as hell, and then as many have said, since it was popular with the masses we got I know last summer and all the others trying to have the same formula. If as I am reading, Wes was forced to modify his movies by a pinhead in a suit then I can forgive him, but yeesh most of his work seems like amateur crap. Like no-one watched a scene and said, huh, this is not scary and is in fact stupid as all get out. Just watched Shocker for the first time in decades and it is really disapointing. I own the soundtrack and listen to most of the songs regularly, and I remembered the movie not being rediculous and lame. Nightmare 1 was good, but I feel like this guy is not a real director, but he is praised like crazy.

Pre-New Nightmare: Hills Have Eyes 2
After New Nightmare: Anything, but especially Cursed and Red Eye
