Theatrical v Special Edition (Director´s cut)

I prefer the Director´s cut, even though some scenes I didn´t care for. The scene with Newt´s parents, slightly undermines the impact of finding Newt when we don´t know about her existence in the theatrical version. Hudson´s "check it out" scene is a bit dumb. On the other hand, I really liked the addition of Ripley finding out about her dead daughter, it adds an emotional gravitas to the Ripley-Newt relationship. The sentry gun scene is pretty awesome too and when they run out of ammo it adds to the direness of the predicament they are in.

Only the sentry gun scene is fun, but it undermines the threat and menace of the xenomorphs by showing how easily they fall into an ambush.

Theatrical. Although I find the added scenes interesting, I feel they are unnecessary. When I watch Aliens, it is almost always the theatrical cut.

I will go with the theatrical, with the exception of the automated sentry scene, I thought the editors were correct in removing them.
