Do Aussies actually like Crocodile Dundee?

Do they see him as a national treasure?

Or as a cliché invented by Americans?

The writers were Australian, the director was Australian, the star and most of the actors were Australian, and most of the crew was Australian. Dundee is a cliché invented and brought to cinematic life by Australians.

Hoges (Paul Hogan) is definitely a national treasure. He was one of the most loved celebrities in his heyday. I wouldn’t say Mick Dundee is a national treasure but we know it’s Hogan’s most famous and iconic role.
