Question for those of us who were in college in the mid 80's....
How many of you see yourselves in it?
Which character(s) are you?

Prolly Kevin, tortured writer, mistaken for gay, etc.
shareI was in college in the mid-'80s, which is when I saw this film. I identified only with Andrew McCarthy's character, and only slightly. But mostly I found these characters superficial, self-indulgent and alien to me, and it's only become more so three decades later.
shareI graduated from a Wash DC college in the mid-80's as well. But I was 3 years older than my graduating class. I clearly remember these cliques that thought they were so hip... but were really just so blind. I think all that being trendy, young, and oh so cool crap should have been left behind in high school. It was cringe worthy in 1985 and even much more so now.
shareA mix of Billy, Kevin and Kirby.
Can't say I see myself in any of the characters but......if you were a college senior in 1985, this film will always be special to you. It didn't have the same chance to affect other years but, for those graduating in '85, this film can make you young again (for a couple hours.)
Remember When Movies Did Not Have To Be Politically Correct?
We were told to see this because "this movie shows what your future will be like".
Well, not really.
Didn't really relate to any of the characters, though knew a few people who seemed like that.
On the other hand there were qualities in characters that I think a lot of us identified with, e.g. pining for someone who was not available or wouldn't return interest, sometimes overdoing things, not getting our act together, etc.
