Santa and the elves were out of touch and clueless about making and delivering toys during Christmas

I still love the old movie but i have noticed that all the toys that the elves ever made for Chrsistmas were things made out of wood especially wooden statutes of bears and then there's the dolls and bikes they made that fell apart. If they spent the time to do their research of what was going on in the 1980s at the time they could have magically given kids better things like remote control cars and action figures like Barbie and G.I. Joe

Barbie and g.i. joe were made by humans.
You would still get that stuff along with a few of stantas crappy wooden toys.

Yeah I remember being a little confused when I watched this as a child (I first saw it a year or two later in Xmas of 1986 or 87) and wondering why all the toys that Santa is giving out are painted wooden horses and dolls. I was wondering how his workshop put together VHS tapes, He-man figures, and Nintendo games. It would have made sense if the movie was set in 1925 but it's set in contemporary times.
