Take Me Back In Time, Please!!!

Why do so many people feel the need to point out how "dated" something is? Or they'll excuse it by saying something like, "it's dated, but it's still good". Who cares if it doesn't look "timeless"? God forbid something looks (or sounds) like it was filmed or recorded in a different time period. It's irrelevant. Does it really matter? Quite frankly, I'd rather live in the 80's than today. At least people (for the most part) were original back then, and they didn't care about fitting in. I'm 29 now, so I missed out on being old enough to enjoy the decade the first time around. So, I'm living through the nostalgia of the 80's now, and avoiding all the media of our current time period.

Anyway, this was a great movie. I actually saw it for the first time last week, which is surprising because I only watch older films since most of the stuff out today sucks. Now I have to buy this DVD.

I wonder what it is about the teen films that have been out since the 90's that are just plain awful. Teenagers were so cool in the 80's, and probably every decade before that...but now??? I can't stand to watch modern films, especially teenage films.

I guess I'm living in the wrong time period. Boo hoo, right?

I'd have to agree! I may have been born 89, but I feel the same way when they call things from the 90s "OLD". I mean, SERIOUSLY?! I wish I could just live in the 90s forever. But, age and the 90s never leave! :(

I would have loved to have grown up in the 80s, too! :)

My mom and dad tell me amazing stories about their teen years- it makes me jealous!

What a cool thread! I go back and forth between wanting to go back in time to the 70's or the 80's. I remember the 80's but definitely don't remember the 70's, but there is a certain nostalgia there. And I think you're right there is something about these movies that capture those eras so perfectly like Girls Just Want To Have Fun! I do so wish we could go back sometimes and take some of what we know now to then.

Remember the magic words: "Please", "Thank you" and "Step off bitch!"
