Clue Remake Dream Cast

Who I would cast:

Wadsworth......Hugh Laurie

Mrs. Peacock....Helen Mirren

Mrs. White...Cate Blanchet

Col. Mustard.....Jack Black

Mr. Green....Chris Pratt

Professor Plum....Steve Carrell

Mr. Body....Leo DiCaprio

Not sure of the rest...

I have been hoping for a darker Clue movie... no remake could possibly come from the 85 classic.

But if they wanted to adapt the story to a more Agatha Christie like mystery, set in the 30's, I'd be all for it.

That would mean no Wadsworth... I wouldn't want anyone to try to emulate Tim Curry.

Peacock - sophisticated murderess - Helen Mirren (great choice)
White - aged, deceptive housekeeper - Judi Dench
Scarlet - back to the Asian assassin - Reiko Aylesworth
Green - gangster look, think 70's board game look - Michael Chiklis
Mustard - distinguished military colonel, mutton chops! - Hugh Bonneville
Plum - I liked him as House, would make a great professor - Hugh Laurie
Body - if he'd be up to anything other than voice acting - Tim Curry

I would go with more of a darker classic murder mystery with a british heavy cast.

Peacock- Helena Bonham Carter
Wadsworth- Damien Lewis
White- Gugu Mbatha-Raw
Plum- Ewan McGregor
Green- Henry Cavill
Mustard- Ian McKellen
Scarlet- Jessica Chastain
Yvette- Romola Garai
Boddy- Hugh Laurie

reply

I don't usually get into remake threads, but Helena Bonham Carter *would* make an excellent Peacock; and Lewis and McGregor are good suggestions too. Mr. Green, however, is hardly a sex symbol. Laurie and McKellen are way too old, and the last actress in the world to play Ms. Scarlet is Jessica Chastain. Whatever made you think of her? (Serious question.) Has she ever played a siren in any film?

reply

Green could be a sex symbol, McKellen is older but he would still make a great Colonel and Laurie is in his 50's I don't consider that too old. I think Jessica Chastain is attractive enough, her natural red hair would be a nice touch for the character (since her name is Scarlet) and she did play with some sensuality in Crimson Peak. Is there someone in particular you would cast as Miss Scarlet?

reply

Julie Louis-Dreyfuss.

reply

To each their own.

reply

Um... JLD as Scarlet? No thanks...

I'll keep my list as is... no remake of Clue with Wadsworth and Yvette.

It should be a movie which is darker, and more faithful to the Cluedo/Clue game of the early 40's (having it take place in the 20's or 30's would be quite atmospheric).

reply

I agree that a remake is an extremely, excessively, even idiotically bad idea. It would be like remaking Gone with the Wind or The Sound of-- Ruh-ro... 

I don't know the age of posters interested in remakes, but one thing everyone--with due respect even to yourself--overlooks is that all the actors in "Our" "Clue" were comic actors. Your idea of a darker film might have a kinda "And Then There Were None" vibe, but then it would be "And Then There Were None"--not beloved "Clue."

[EDITED TO GET RID OF POST-SLEEP SYNTAX 

reply

My idea of a darker script wouldn't call for six murders - as Clue or Cluedo was never a multiple murder board game. It was a game centred around the murder of Mr Boddy/Dr Black. His six guests for the weekend are the only suspects.

I can't say that Clue is close in classic-ness like Gone with the Wind or Sound of Music, but it has a cult following - I for one don't want to see anyone else playing Wadsworth. That's why I wouldn't want a direct remake.

Sidney Prescott said it best in Scream 4... "don't **** with the original".

reply

Here's a better idea:

Wadsworth.....Nathan Lane

Mrs. Peacock....Helen Mirren

Mrs. White....Tracy Ullman

Col. Mustard.....Jack Black

Mr. Green....Patrick Stewart

Professor Plum....Hugh Laurie

Miss Scarlet....Eva Green

Yvette....Salma Hayek

Mr. Boddy....Harvey Keitel

The Police....Sting

reply

This is actually a not-bad remake cast. Nathan Lane isn't swoony (for the ladies), but it would be fun to see him do a serio-comic role. Your other suggestions are good, too, because the magic is half-comedy half-mystery.

reply

I like that cast too...But what about Patrick Stewart as Wadsworth and Nathan Lane as Mr. Green.

reply

Ugh... why remake it with those characters?

The 80's Clue should stay the campy fun romp that it was - with Wadsworth and Yvette.

If they decided to do another Clue type movie - it should be darker, with one murder (Boddy or Black), and the five guests with one maid (White).

After careful consideration I've tweeked my cast a bit.

White - Fionnula Flanagan (such a great housekeeper in the Others)
Peacock - Helen Mirren (sophistication at it's best - imagine her with feathers in a hat)
Scarlet - Eva Green (this woman exudes beauty and mystique - so elegant)
Mustard - Hugh Bonneville (I can definitely see him being a shady ex-military colonel)
Plum - Ben Hardy (young bookish type professor)
Green - Charlie Hunham (sans the SOA scruff, he could pull off a good looking reverend)

reply

Michael Caine as Wadsworth (duh! Kinda obvious, no?)
As the large breasted Yvette? No question, Pamela Anderson. Or Kelly Brook.

Mrs White - Scarlett Johansson - don't know why tho
Miss Scarlett - Jennifer Lawrence - again, no particular reason
Mrs Peacock - Helen Hunt, only because I like her

Professor Plum - Anthony Stewart, again goes without saying. Or typing.
Colonel Mustard - George Clooney, no reason
Reverend Green - Denzel Washington, why not

Mr Boddy - Eddie Murphy, has his character ever died before?

The Cook - Gordon Ramsey - gender switched role

The Motorist - Lewis Hamilton - grasping at straws, anyone?

The police - Sam Waterston - running out of ideas

The patrol man - or woman - Jodie Foster

As the singing telegram - Beyoncé Knowles-Z

reply

Emma Stone as Ms Scarlett
Helena Bonham Carter as Mrs Peacock
Cate Blanchett/Amy Poehler as Mrs White

reply

Peacock- Cameron Diaz
Wadsworth - Nathan Fillion
White - Kristin Wiig
Plum - Kevin Hart
Green - Steve Carell
Mustard - Kevin James
Scarlet - Mila Kunis
Yvette - Kate Upton
Boddy - Seth Rogen
The Cop - Steve Buscemi

reply

I don't know who I'd want,but I'd want Christopher Walken in it.
