Does anyone have an opinion on this movie?
I used to watch this when I was younger. Anyone else seen it? Love it, hate it, middle of the road?

LOVE IT!
Vincent - Oh man, I shot Marvin in the face. (Pulp Fiction)
I love it. It's a bit obscure bit good. It's a lot like an old Hammer Horror movie and I love those things. Sting is surprisingly good as an actor. It's one of the few Frankenstien movies that ends happily for the monster.
Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask and he'll tell you the truth.
It's not great, but it's not terrible either. It's also a bit dated with respect to style, but that's okay. Sting isn't much of an actor, but he's passable here as his part was written to be overshadowed. Clacy Brown is actually very good as the monster. He's avery underated actor and is actually much better as the monster than Deniro was in MSF (By the way, you can't tell me that pun was unintentional. Talk about doctors without frontiers! Wasn't there an "AMA" in the German Confederation then?)-Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.
P.S: Jennifer Beals' artisticly done nude scene was worth the price of admission. What a bod...even when stitched together.
EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!one of my faves
shareI watched it by renting VHS and the quality is terrible! I just know Clancy Brown played bad guard in "Shawshank Redemption" so I surprised he was in this film and played that monster. My memory seemed back that monster did have similar low, deep voice I heard in "Shawshank Redemption"!
Unless movie channel would air this film, I have no chance to re-watch cause Blockbuster didn't have it.
I've seen it over a dozen times. It's one of my favorites.
shareOne of my favs, too. Much underrated, IMHO. I love the scene where Renaldo and Victor are roasting a chicken, and Victor learns to share. Watching Victor grow up while on the road with Renaldo is, well, in the words of Chris Farley, just umm really excellent.
Rolling through the Zen room.
I think it was a very good effort. It's not the terrible movie many have claimed it to be. A friend of mine was in it (he passed on since then) and said there were a lot of problems on the set especially with the two stars.

Which two stars? LOL

(To the person who wrote "which 2 stars," the leads in films are always called stars whether they are well-known at the time or not.)
I'm interested in hearing what the problems were between the two stars. Share please???
The friend - Quentin Crisp. Has told me over lunch in 1997 (we were working on a project that summer) that he had not enjoyed any of his film roles nor the results of the final product. From "The Bride", I remember him telling me that "Mr. Sting" and him "had gotten along famously" but he always seemed "annoyed with Miss Jennifer Beals who was always crying and running off the set". "I don't think they liked each other" and "There were several very loud confrontations between them, something I had not seen before as part of the creative process". That's all I really remember.
I would just like to say that he also told me about something Jennifer Beals was going through during that time but I don't remember what. I would also like to say I have several friends who work on L Word who say, although she is reserved, she is sweet and very professional. I've never met her.

I loved the movie BUT i kind'a wish that sting's characters motives were explained more...He wants to create a new kind of woman then contradicts himself...then you wonder if the character follows the same history of that of the original mary shelley's frankensein...did sting have a wife before he made the creation?
I still love this movie it's the most romantic version of frankenstein ever.
"Just my little tribute to Caligula Darli'g!"
In this version, I believe that intellectually Frankenstein does want to create a "New Woman," as he claims, and is fascinated at the IDEA of a woman of equal intelligence and attitude to a man. BUT, when he sees her become attracted to another man, and him to her, it makes Frankenstein jealous of the other man, and that makes him throw his intellectual beliefs and desires out the window and he decides that if she's ready to pursue a sexual relationship with another man, then she's ready for him, whether she wants him or not.
And no, in this version, Frankenstein was a bachelor who devoted all his time to "science." Eva was created originally to be the Monster's bride, but once she was brought to life, and Frankenstein saw how beautiful she was, he changed his mind and wouldn't let the Monster have her. That's where the fight between Frankenstein and the Monster occurred. Then he pushed his carnal thoughts aside and got a "better idea" to teach her to be independent and strong and intelligent instead. Then, as I mentioned above, he changed his mind again and pursued her himself. He even told her she was created to be a bride, it's just the groom who has changed.
EMOTICONS ARE BACK! YAY!
Love this movie!!
It gets a lot of bad reviews, but it's totally underrated!
I've watched it several times - I love it
shareI loved the film Prof F the villian for a change in the movies. In the share a chicken scene the "bootiful" issued by a green hue'd Victor whilst chewing chicken could have proved a lovely spoof of Bernard Mathews .
shareThough this is a flawed film (mostly with the slipshod screenplay), there are still some outstanding elements, such as the lush cinematography (which recalls many of the Hammer horror films), and the Maurice Jarre score (which is a fortune to buy on CD on Ebay). The scenes between Viktor and Rinaldo are the best and most heart-felt. The ending feels rushed (and it was according to the director Roddam's commentary), which was the ultimate downfall of the film. However, as I said before, the film has merits that cannot be entirely overlooked.

I'm very partial to it myself. It's wonderfully romantic and visually sumptuous, with a charming fairytale like innocence in many of the scenes. The level of onset artistry had to be so much higher in this era (without cgi) and that really shows here.
shareAs a whole, the movies plot was a bit obscure; I liked the characters as individuals, not simply based on their performances in the movie. My favorite character would have to be Stings role in this movie. He played his part well.
