She's not Regina George, but she's not some misunderstood, loveable popular girl either. Snobby, but in a subtle, realistic way. Very nuanced.

Similar realistic take in "Sixteen Candles" where the unpopular outsider girl isn't the most likeable character and has a serious attitude.

Perhaps it's because they are all from different cliques (asides from the Goth girl) but they all seem on the outer to me, like they wouldn't really fit in with their own crowd either. Clare doesn't have the personality of a girl who would be super popular.
