I saw the movie twice in theater and "to be continued..." text was in there. This happened in Finland and at the time it took several months to get US movies in there. I see from the IMDb that US premier was 3 July 1985, but in Finland the movie premiered as late as in 20 December 1985. By the time BTTF reached Finland, a decision of the sequel was probably already made, so they added the "To be continued..." text in the end. That Huffpost article doesn't mention anything about foreign distribution copies, which contained that text by the time the movie premiered on foreign markets.
I thought "To be continued..." text was a very funny joke and I miss it everytime I see the movie on blu-ray (or television).
