Why have they removed the "To be continued..." text from the end credits? I thought it was a funny final joke when I saw it in theater, but its not present anymore on the dvd and blu-ray releases. On the other hand "To be concluded..." text has been left in the end of Part II. Doesn't make any sense.
shareSpeaking as someone who saw the original run in theaters more than once, I agree with the official word that “to be continued” did NOT appear in the original theatrical release.
I only noticed it on the letterbox VHS release years later.

So it makes sense to remove it again, to “restore” it to original theatrical form.
George Lucas could learn from that example.
I saw the movie twice in theater and "to be continued..." text was in there. This happened in Finland and at the time it took several months to get US movies in there. I see from the IMDb that US premier was 3 July 1985, but in Finland the movie premiered as late as in 20 December 1985. By the time BTTF reached Finland, a decision of the sequel was probably already made, so they added the "To be continued..." text in the end. That Huffpost article doesn't mention anything about foreign distribution copies, which contained that text by the time the movie premiered on foreign markets.
I thought "To be continued..." text was a very funny joke and I miss it everytime I see the movie on blu-ray (or television).
