Destroys the sequels

I enjoy the whole trilogy, but there is simply no comparison between the three. I can take or leave the sequels, but this one is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Love all three of them. The original is my favorite, but the second part comes very close. Excellent sequel. And the third, although not as good as the previous two, is very underrated imo.

I actually liked part 2 just as much as part 1 but I found 3 to be weaker than the first two.

The original is definitely the best, although it is quite a strong trilogy because all 3 films deal with a different issue, they don't do what other sequels do and tell the same story again.

1) What if you went back in time and endangered your own existence?

2) What if time travel fell into the wrong hands?

3) What if you picked a fight with the wrong person, believing you were standing up for yourself?

The third is definitely the weakest as it's not directly related to time travel, but it's a decent bit of entertainment and a good way to round the series off.

Although I did think the flying steam locomotive was just ridiculous!

Part 2 is the best. Oh, the first is great and it's not a slight on that, but 2 hits it all.
Even part III (the forgotten film of the three) is an outstanding film.

I agree. Out of all the movie series ive seen this holds up better

Part II is just as fun and iconic as the first one to me. But when it comes to the filmmaking aspect and overall wonder, the original is hands down in a league of its own.

reply

I very much dislike the sequels.

As the years go by, I like the sequels less and less. Loved them both when I was a kid. The constant circle of life rehashes seem less clever and more lazy to my fat cynical ass.

I like the sequels but the original is simply on another level. Quentin Tarantino has said BTTF is one of the most perfect movies ever made. I don't often agree with him but I do on that. The set up and pay off is amazing screenwriting.

If you pay attention to the film from the dance, it could've easily have been a complete disaster because there's several climaxes going on - George and Lorraine getting together and Marty surviving, Marty trying to get back to 1955, and then trying to save Doc when he arrives, and yet it works brilliantly without feeling crammed or rushed.
