All of the women's dresses were fantastic but which dress that they had Lesley-Ann-Down wear in the movie was your favourite? Mine would probably be the blue dress she had on when Justin brought her the present.(The unicorn music box).
one of my favorite Madeline dresses is the black riding dress she wears when she meets Orry for the first time after he comes back from Mexico. I love the tall black hat she wears with it and those beautiful gray eyes!
Alright, My favorite is Ashton's, then to each character I like best... Ashton; Pink/White with Black velvet trim at her "little reception here" Brett; When Billy proposes Madeline; Ahh, I guess the peach stripey one she wears when Justin tells her a mind isn't nessisary with a face of an angel. Or the pink one she has on with the rhinestones wrapped around her crown of hair when Maum Sally tells her Mr Orry is not himself. Constance; The Red Monte Royal Party Dress. Or the Blue Ensamble when she says the whole world is going insane Geaaaarge. All the plaid obviousely. Augusta; the darker plaid one with the bluish green plaids. Virgilia; Probably the Red riding habit. Hey Grady! The men's ties are amazing, got a high definition tv, started noticing their vests alot!
Here are some of my favorites, but I think overalll, Ashton had the prettiest dresses.
Madeline-reddish wine colored one where she sees Orry off to the war pink/purplish one at the BBQ at Mont Royal cream one trimmed in green where Orry tells her he mortgaged MR black one when she overhears Justin plotting to kill Billy She wore several very pretty pieces of riding habit, too
Ashton-purple/pinkish dress she wore to Brett's wedding peach one with the black sash rust colored one with the coat in one of her first meetings with Bent red one at the party for the president at the hotel and she meets Bent turquoise one she wore to the succession rally red & white one when she kisses Billy in the garden in Lehigh Station
Bret-peach dress she wears to lunch with Billy in Charleston yellow, blue & white one where she meets Billy at the beginning of book 2 rust colored one she wears to Orry and Madeline's wedding red one w/tan & black trim when she gives Orry the book Virgilia sent
Constance-turquoise wedding dress the green dress from Charles Worth the red one at the ball at Mont Royal the one she's wearing when they have to leave MR b/c of Virgilia (pinks, greems)
My favorite of her dresses is the pink riding dress she has on when she catches Justin at the old church with the slave and then he beats her. I'm not a fan of many of Madeline's dresses but I adore most of Constance's and Brett's gowns!
I only really like a few on Madeline's dresses. I LOVE a lot of Constance's and Brett's dresses and some of Ashton's in Book 2. I love the dresses but I have a problem with some of the historic accuracy because they wouldn't have worn dresses so lowcut (already discussed) and not costume-related but the eye makeup bugs me too. lol. I'm all about the historical accuracy of it. Oh and the fact that they always had dinner or ball dresses on even during the day.
Favorite dresses for each character: ~Madeline- pink riding habit and the blue dress she wears when Ashton gets the abortion ~Brett- blue Harper's Ferry dress, peach and white Election day dress, the gray dress she wears on the way back to MR in book 2, red dress when Orry gives his permission for her to marry Billy, the plaid dress she wears when the evil Salem Jones kills that poor slave ~Ashton- the red and blue dress she wears when Bent first shows her the ammunition in the barn, the blue and silver one she wears when Bent is "killed", the red and blue she wears when she tried when Brett stops her from telling the soldiers about Billy being there ~Constance: the mint green wedding dress, the plaid one she wears when she asks George about hiding runaways, the blue dress she wears when she tells George she's pregnant, the bluish dress she wears when talking about getting George out of Libby prison, the navy Christmas dress in book 2, the blue stripe after George comes home form prison, and of course her green Charles Worth orginal ~Virgilia: the red and plaid riding habit when she and Grady are together, the dress she wears when George tells her she can go to MR
Oh and I love a lot of Maude and Clarissa's dresses because they were elegant and pretty historically accurate!
The historical inaccuricies did bother me a lot. I loved Madeline's black dress on the veranda, however I do wonder why black? That would be a no no back then. Black was for mourning.
I agree...the historical inaccuracies both me too! But I still love it. And, yes, Madeline wouldn't have been wearing black because she wasn't in mourning.
Virgilia had the best dresses.....dark and dramatic, sinister, my favourite is of a sweeter nature, the pleeded one shes wearing earlier in the day, befor her infamus speach.....NO,NO,NO,NO!!!!
