Is there a soundtrack for this movie?
I remember looking for one many many years ago because I wanted Eddie Van Halen's nice guitar work but alas I was never able to find one.
Can anyone confirm this?

I just bought it this past weekend on vinyl for a dollar at a second hand record store. Actually, that's how I heard of the movie. This disappoints me because I was fairly certain I had seen every second-rate 80's movie that existed. I don't know how this one skated past me.
shareIf you need any songs, write me at [email protected]. I'll be more than happy to share the soundtrack in MP3 form.
BTW, can anyone tell me why these songs are listed as supposedly in the soundtrack when they do not play at all thoroughout the movie?
* Peter Wolf - Oo-Ee-Diddley-Bop!
* Prince - Dirty Mind
* Three O'Clock - I Go Wild
* What Is This - Mind My Have Still I
They are not listed in the credits either. Of course, neither are several other songs heard in the movie, but these four a mysteries since I've been through the film several times listening for any segments from them.
I think it's funny how when you are listening to the tracks of EVH's guitar playing, you hear the beginning of "Right Now" amongst other future VH hits in their more basic demo format. Absolutely awesome. This is probably why there is problems with the soundtrack and it's not getting the DVD treatment.
sharePutting additional additional arbitrary songs was pretty commonplace back then to sell the record. I don't think it happens so much any more, especially since the Academy only allows songs that actually appear in a film be Oscar-eligible, although none of these were composed specifically for the film.
I actually picked up the soundtrack for this one for 50 cents as a cutout at Best Buy around 1992. The only EVH music on there, if I remember right (it's in storage) is Donut City. Not the greatest song, but must have for a fan.
I also believe that a snippet from that song is what Marty McFly plays on his Walkman trying to convince his dad he's an alien.
Yes, the snippet of the song is used in "Back To The Future" as well. That's been covered in another topic thread. As for "Donut City" being the only available instrumental by EVH, that's not true. There is also the credits music, which I have in my extended soundtrack.

I'm still trying to find this soundtrack!

Just sent you an email. Thanks!
shareyou must have some sort of bootleg or fan created "extended" soundtrack because I have the original cassette of the soundtrack and "Donut City" is the only EVH track on it. I've seen other "extended" soundtracks for sale on eBay, etc. They usually have great sound quality but they are indeed bootlegs. It's really not hard these days with printers to make a CD look official.
(by the way I'm not putting ya down just stating a fact about the original official soundtrack released in 1984 on MCA Records.)

I personally put together my extended soundtrack, as I have done with all of the hundreds of soundtracks I have. Mine for WL has 19 songs, 3 are bonus. "Donut City" was released by Eddie Van Halen on a compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks. I never bootleg my soundtracks and you won't find them for sale on ebay or anywhere else.

Ed Van Halen has never released a CD of unreleased music. Ever. The only place you will find an Official release of "Donut City" is on the cassette or vinyl soundtrack of The Wild Life. The Wild Life soundtrack has never been Officially released on CD. Ever.
There are lots of bootleg "official" soundtracks for sale on eBay. I wasn't suggesting you are a bootlegger. And I really wouldn't care if you were. I was just stating the facts.

"Donut City" was released by the Van Halen News Desk (http://www.vhnd.com/2010/09/28/rare-eddie-van-halen-instrumental-%E2%80%9Cdonut-city%E2%80%9D) back in 2010, but I got my track from the original vinyl record. My mistake on the compilation CD. I could have sworn there was one released with that track on it, but totally forgot that it was on my vinyl, of which I have recorded, cleaned and enhanced tons of records for soundtracks of mine. I don't buy bootleg soundtracks.
