Frank Zappa had a daughter who he named Moon Unit. In Ende's book the name given to the Childlike Empress is Moonchild. I believe this is what Bastion yells in the film as well, although it's buried under the thunderstorm.
I think Bastian yelled "MONDKIND" which is German for "moon child".
He yelled "Moonchild" but drew it out to three syllables so "Mondenkind" would fit in the German dub.
To me, it always sounded more like 'Montoya' or something like that.
