Did anybody actually see this in a theater?
If so, what did you think after walking out? Was there anyone else there with you at the complex?

shareI saw it in theaters on opening day. Theater was packed. People were expecting another Superman movie.
shareYes mustve been summer 84 I was quite young but had seen the other summer movies Temple of Doom, Star Trek III, Tarzan, with Ghostbusters at xmas (was too young for Gremlins which was rated 15 in uk), and had seen Superman III the previous summer and was a HUGE Superman fan since i saw II in 81 (literally my whole thoughts back then were about Superman).. going to see Supergirl felt abit silly as it was SuperGIRL not for boys!!.. but I guess my folks must've read it was from the makers of Superman and it was set in the same continuity so id obviously be interested .. now I think about it more I think I remember being asked outside the theatre if I wanted to see it and I may have been unable to decide before the decision was made for me I guess .also remember seeing a fold out Supergirl poster magazine that was on sale either outside in a newsagent kiosk or maybe inside the cinema where you'd get the popcorn (where I had gotten the postermagazines for Superman II and III previously along with a Superman III DC comic and badge) and i think i recall being asked if i wanted it but said 'no'
Anyway I can recall most it from then (have seen it a couple of times since on VHS.. never bothered to get the DVD). stuff I recall: the opening with the bit of Krypton under the sea or whatever it was and her bursting out the lake in the suit and then flying about, her being at school with dark hair looking at the poster of Superman (years later found out that was instead of his planned cameo), fighting an invisible monster with a lamppost, Jimmy Olsen, the hunky guy that Faye Dunaway (didn't know who she was back then) and supergirl were into (only found out a few years ago he was Ellis 'Hans! booby! im ur white knight!' from Die Hard lol) and him being put under a spell wandering around a town being attacked by a bulldozer and then in a funpark and supergirl rescuing him and then flying over him when he tied to get away, supergirl being sent to Phantom Zone asteroid planet and meeting Peter O'Toole (not that I had any idea who he was at the time) was that what it was like for Zod & Co?.. and then the end in the weird magic castle with the monster.. a very strange and weird movie looking back from now .. (almost as bizarre as WW84 and its wishing stone lol).
Dont recall the cinema being packed but maybe it was, can't be sure. probably not
No. I enjoyed it along with the Reeve Superman movies. I don't recall how crowded the theater was, but nobody walked out or vocally complained.
Much later, I stopped enjoying it so I never bought a copy for my movie collection.
I saw it. I vaugely remembered seing the movie during original release. At the time I had been on on seizure meds they don't give to little kids any more in the USA. So I remembered the opening credits with the music and the phantom zone fight with the very pretty white dress. But that was about it.
shareI went with my parents when I was 8. I remember that I liked it. I mean, a girl like Superman, who flies like him, has special powers, etc, was all I needed to be impressed. It was such a long time ago but I know it was in the afternoon and there was some people in there with us.
Now I'm curious... What would I think of it 37 years later ?? I'm almost scared to re-watch it, haha.
I saw it at the theater and whatever the movie lacked was made up for by watching the beautiful Helen Slater.
