I am thinking that this movie might be ripe for a remake. I can see with some good marketing and some decent money spent behind it, a remake could make some decent money. I am thinking Piper Perabo for Madisons role, i kind of feel she has the right amount of acting prowess and looks the right age.

No, people hate remakes because the vast majority of them are inferior versions of the original film. People hate remakes because it's Hollywood insulting our intelligence while trying to take our money.
How about this...Why can't Hollywood hire great writers and make an original film. Let SPLASH stand as is. This movie is classic. It holds up to this very day.

Actually...uhm...I think it would be kinda fun. I can't say I can think of a good cast for it at the moment, but I have no problem with a remake. I mean, Splash is a cute film, but remaking it isn't like remaking, say, Psycho or Schindler's List. It had a certain amount of prunable cheese that I could see cutting in a remake...

yes a remake would be nice,i'll say but not gr8,in respect to the original.yes it will definitely not match up to the original,but whatz the harm in trying anyway.it much be much better than expected.but they should choose the cast carefully,especially for madison's role.piper perabo and ashley tisdale are very beautiful and they do kinda resemble hannah(they look mermaidish),,,,but the question is will they be able to swim as fast and hold their breath for longer times without letting bubbles escape like hannah beautifully portrayed?!!!.besides that i feel strongly that the girl to revise madison's character should not be shorter than 5'9'' or 5'7'' at the least.perabo and tisdale wouldlook good as mermaids but i feel they are too short to act as mermaids.one of the really beautiful aspects of madison's mermaid character which made her look so graceful was that she was long(read tall) and slender.a curvy and short/medium-height mermaid would DEFINITELY NOT LOOK AS GOOD.SERIOUSLY...THINK ABOUT IT GUYS......
shareIf there had to be a remake. I see Blake Lively as Madison because she reminds me of Daryl Hannah and I think it would be cool to see her as a mermaid. When I saw her in Green Lantern, she made me think of Madison for some odd reason. Furthermore, she has blond hair like Daryl Hannah had in Splash or rather a similar color to Hannah's blond hair in Splash. But I see Blake Lively as Madison. If not her, then it should be Kaley Cuoco.As for Alan Bauer, I think it would be cool if Tom Hiddleston could play Alan Bauer. I think Tom Hiddleston should play Alan Bauer because he looks like Tom Hanks and I really enjoyed him as Loki in Thor. Also, Jonah Hill should be Alan's brother Freddy because he's funny and reminds me of John Candy. As for Eugene Levy's character, I think Jim Parsons or the guy who plays Leonard in Big Bang Theory should play Levy's character. But anyways, those would be who I think should be in the Splash remake if it happens.

I feel like people automatically jump to I HATE REMAKES because it's the cool response, but I guarantee at least ONE movie they really enjoy is a remake and they probably don't even know it! If a remake is made WELL, it can be great. What I hate are the ones with low budgets where they try to hire a young, good-looking cast instead of a cast that can actually ACT. Those are the remakes that suck.

People are always generalizing about remake being bad, but if you dont give it a shot how can you know. with enoug money, a good studio and a good cast it could be great.

Remakes are just a money maker for hollywood,i am so sick of remakes,why watch the same film but with different actors/FX??
