1984 was different from 2017, wow!

This movie provides a great example of how people today have no clue what context means. You can't judge a film made over 30 years ago by the imposed social morals of today. The times were different. Deal with it. Stop condemning older movies simply because they don't jibe with the "politically correct" paranoia of today!

Thumbs up!

Exactly! I repeat that same comment on a lot of movies too, because it never fails: someone always ends up bitching about political correctness or lack thereof in older movies. I wouldn't be surprised if one day, older movies are banned because they offend people now. So damn stupid!

Indeed! I mean, Prince levees a few beatdowns on his hot-ass woman - she keeps going back. Jerome pitches a filthy whore into a dumpster - WWE-style... and let's not forget, "Motherfucker... you long-haired faggot!"

It was a glorious time for movies.

A modern Purple Rain will go like this. Apollonia never leaves her town because she's already a famous tiktoker/streamer making money on OnlyFans showing her tits. Prince finds a local girl to fight over with Morris instead but when he hits her, she runs to social media to make it public and her orbiters help cancel him. The girl who gets thrown in the dumpster, immediately goes on social media to #MeToo Morris, and her legion of orbiters cancel him too. Billy tells them he has the "Mountaineer", he doesn't need the negative attention they are bringing to the club. So the finale is them both singing Purple Rain to say sorry, to a bunch of protestors who hate the song because it's mansplaining to them, and in a feminist rage, they burn the club down, where everyone dies, except Wendy and Lisa because they are rescued by other LBGT members.
