It seemed to fall apart as soon as they went to the older age, movie got alot more boring and it seems there wasn't as much effort as they put into the first 80% of the movie, maybe they were all tired at that point and wanted to get it over with.
could have been a top 20 movie if the ending was good
The whole ending was a wtf for me. I am left to believe that the 60s scenes were all just a dream. And the reason why I think that is because Noodles' one true love NEVER aged. It's 35 years later and she still looks EXACTLY the same? Leone said that he wanted the ending to be open to interpretation, and I think that was his clue that it was all an opium dream where Max got his, his friends were respectably buried in a mausoleum, and the love of his life was a successful actress who never got old.
