In one scene she is carrying an Algebra I book.

Of course every state is different, but I think Algebra I is standard for freshman:

And as someone else pointed out, Algebra II is for juniors. So, it's kinda sorta possible for a senior to be taking it. Only first track and honors take pre-calc.

At my school in the late ‘00s decade it went like this:

Smart Kids:
8th grade - Algebra 1
Freshman - Geometry
Sophomore - Algebra 2
Junior - Pre-Calculus/Trig
Senior - Calculus or Statistics

Average kids:
8th grade - Pre-Algebra
Freshman - Algebra 1
Sophomore - Geometry
Junior - Algebra II
Senior - Pre-Calculus/Trig

Yes, I’m surprised to see everyone arguing that algebra is in any certain grade. Both when I went to school and when my kids did, there were kids of different ages in that class depending on how advanced their level of math skill was for their age.
