I vividly remember seeing it there.but I remember it being in 3D !?!?!does anybody else remember this at all?!?

reply

I saw this in the theater too, but I don't remember it in 3D.

reply

I saw this and Tank the same day back in 84. Ah, the good ol' days. I never heard that it was in 3D. Love the movie though!

reply

I did. YOu may be thinking of that other movie that Molly Ringwald was in. I can't remember the name of it.

reply

I remember going to see Tank at the movie theater, but not this because I had to wait for it to come out on HBO to be able to watch it.

Ice Pirates was never released 3-D.
I could be wrong, but I think you've got it mixed up with Spacehunter with Michael Ironside and Molly Ringwald. It's the movie that resembles Ice Pirates most in plot (not much) and setting (quite a bit)that WAS released in 3-D in the same general time period.

I think it was called Spacehunter in 3D. I believe that's what it was called.

reply

Hello?
Read my post.

reply

It's called Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone.

reply

I remember it in the theaters, but not in 3D. That was such a happier, simpler time...

I was going to see it with my sister and she tricked me into seeing Amityville Horror instead. Never got over that. I'm not sure about Ice Pirates being in 3D, it might have been, but Amityville Horror certainly was.

reply

Actually, you saw the sequel to The Amityville Horror.

It was simply called Amityville 3-D.

And I can also attest, I saw Ice Pirates twice, in the theater. It was not in 3-D....

reply

I seen it in 3D at the theaters. It was really cool! Ships flying out of the screen. If you moved your head just right you could actually look up the dresses on the women who got high at that party. They wern't wearing any underwear either.

reply

i saw it in the theater when i was 9 it was not in 3D...

You saw it in 3D, I saw it in 2D. I can't find any info anywhere that this movie ever came out in 3D. At the time, there was only a handful of 3D movies out and I personally believe this was NOT one of them.

Until you folks can prove us wrong and show some proof you seen it in 3D, I won't believe you. This movie doesn't even have any elements that would indicate it was in originally in 3D, none. I just watched this movie again last night on Netflix. 3D movies of the 80's was absurdly obvious in the fact that they were 3D that the movies were littered with crap coming at the cameras to indicate such. Ice Pirates had none of these effects.

i saw this in the theater and it wasn't in 3D.

there were a few out at the time that were. 'metalstorm: the destruction of jared syn' might be what the original poster was thinking of. i'm not sure 'space hunter' was in 3D.

there was another sci-fi/post-apocalyptic film out at the time that definitely was in 3D. it was really low-budget and involved this group that had to sneak into a mansion or a castle to steal something. i remember that it was one of the first movies i saw that showed laser trip switches for the alarm system. the crew had to scale in on wires.

its killing me i can't remember the name of this.

reply

just looked it up. 'ice pirates' not in 3D.

'metalstorm,' and 'space hunter' were in 3D.

the movie i was thinking of that IS in 3D - 'treasure of the four crowns.'
