What would happen if Gizmo became a Gremlin?

Of all the mogwai in the movie, Gizmo was the only one that was friendly. All the other Mogwais were evil before they became Gremlins. The transformation had nothing to do with them becoming evil, it just made them stronger and uglier. It would stand to reason that if Gizmo turned into a Gremlin, he would still be a good guy. True he would no longer be cute and cuddly, but he would be a lot stronger and less helpless against the evil Gremlins. Just a thought.

If I remember correctly, supposedly the original idea was: Gizmo was going to be the only Mogwai and he was the one that turned into the main Gremlin, Spike, then he was going to create the other Gremlins by getting wet.

But the producers and such wanted a mascot, something they could turn into a toy that kids would buy, so thats why Gizmo stayed as a Mogwai and didnt change.

Agreed. I always thought that since Gizmo was around all these years, and had an owner that always took good care of him, he would retain his morals. The only difference is that he is now a Gremlin.

Although an interesting story could be about how Gizmo became a Gremlin and had to go on a quest back to his home country (China, perhaps) to find:

A. An elixer that would turn him back to a Mogwai.

B. An artifact that woule turn him back to a Mogwai.

C. A monastary (where his master came from) that would perform some kind of ritual that would turn him back to being a Mogwai.

Although the only way Gizmo would eat after midnight is if a group of Gremlins force fed him. It's unlikely that Gizmo would eat after midnight of his own freewill.
