Tractor Chicken!?!?! Anger Dancing?!?!?! WTF!!!

I can't believe no one ont this board has mentioned that two of the most awesome scenes in film history are contained in this film.

#1. I could not stand it I was laughing so hard. Apparently this is how they settle their differences in small towns. By playing tractor chicken. I never knew such a thing existed. Thank you Footloose for bringing this joy into my life.

#2. I can't stand this small town and their rules. I NEED AN 80'S MONTAGE AND AFTER I CHUCK THIS BEER (ugh!) I'VE GOTTA DANCE. WEE! Kevin Bacon's moves are so damn hilarious I couldn't breathe. Literally. This scene almost killed me. I had to concentrate to tell my lungs to bring in air. But then he swung from the ceiling like Tarzan and I lost it again. Then I lost it even more when he did a gymnastics routine at the end of it. Without question this is one of the greatest scenes ever created in all of cinema.

The man in black fled across the desert and the Gunslinger followed.

Also, in an episode of Arrested Development one of the characters makes a reference to the tiny town in Footloose and then later on in the same episode there is a tractor-chicken scene.

Dude take it easy on calling everyone morons. The point of the thread is not "What's with all the dancing?" it's "Man this is some hilarious dancing." Please, since you're so much smarter than everyone else, explain to us what ISN'T hilarious about Kevin Bacon getting worked up and dancing around an old factory like a total goofball? You say we must be easily amused, I say you have no sense of humor.

I love Ren's angry dancing. It was epic.

I love mankind. It's the people I can't stand.

It makes more sense if you are a creature of the eighties. Sure in todays views the angry dance montage seems silly, but in eighties movies it made perfect sense. Movies were defined by their soundtracks and they all had montages. Sure looking back at them now they seem silly, but at the time it didn't seem silly.

I don't know art, but I know what I like!

Someone should tell the ACLU about the draconian laws in American small towns. The last time I checked the constitution was still valid in all 50 states.

Do people in the country really go cow tipping?

reply

Draconian laws make ME want to Anger-Dance! I'm going to hop into my hybrid, putt down to the local seed-n-feed warehouse, drink a cold brew and just dance. i will dance long. i will dance hard. I will finish it off with a gymnastics routine and flip around at three different camera angles until I can get this town to see the errors of it ways.

Now.... how do you spell ack...eck...-lee-zee testes?

My "#3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

reply

No, it didn't! I was 15 when it came out and I thought it was silly and ridiculous at the time! I hated montages.

I actually liked the anger dancing scene, I thought it was much better than the newer version.

I guess most o you people who have a problem with it don't watch many musicals. You guys should expand you palette a little more before exposing your ignorance to everyone.

I thought the anger dancing was hilarious, too! It really set the stage for Billy Elliot. He did "anger dancing" too and that was funny. I'm so angry...I just gotta dance!

Well said.
This is obviously a very underrated movie.
