I grew up watching and loving a lot of 80s films as well. But there are a lot of popular 80s teen films I didn't care for and this is one of them, Dirty Dancing is another. I just liked the soundtrack to this film tbh.

shareIt grossed 10 times what it cost to make, and that was just in the US. I guess that's what the accountants would call a hit.
I sort of see it as one of a clutch of kids-love-to-dance genre flicks that sprouted up during the mid 80s, along with Dirty Dancing and Shag (I kid ye not!).
Sure beats the garbage they call movies these days. I will bet you liked the remake.

It's very cheesy but it was an enormous hit. It came out when I was in high school and my friends and I all thought it was awesome! lol
