Even for an 80's film they laid it on thick as syrup and most of the time the tempo and emotional resonance of the score didn't match up at all with the scenes they were put to. Just a terrible score on a mediocre film that could have been a slightly better mediocre film with a more appropriate sound track.

It was the 80s trendy instruments that does it in. The tinny guitars, the sax, the soul-less synths. Some real strings and less guitar work would have made a world of difference
And not all synths are soul-less. Give a listen to New Order for some emotional synths.

shareYes... as a lover of movie scores, this one is too "in your face" with the weird sounds and unmelodic dross. It's pure shit. Which, is ironic, considering that the Phil Collins title track on the soundtrack is a really well-done song.
