Even for an 80's film they laid it on thick as syrup and most of the time the tempo and emotional resonance of the score didn't match up at all with the scenes they were put to. Just a terrible score on a mediocre film that could have been a slightly better mediocre film with a more appropriate sound track.

The only good thing was Phil Collins. All the other stuff wasn't even 80s. It sounded horrible.

shareThis film had one of the better scores IMO, very 80's, but the OP knows better then all of us lol. The score used in the Mexican love scenes, swimming, the return to la, car chase and the ending was great. One scene where James Woods is trying to convince Ward of his love, on a cloudy day at the beach was great, it had a terrific score behind it that really gave you the feelings and emotions that the characters were going through.
shareI kind of agree, I mean, it wasn't bad but it could have been better in places. TBH I mainly just liked the Phil Collins part of the score.(That's the only reason I watched or even knew of this film is from the song/music video. Good film too. :)
I think it would have been amazing had Collins done the whole score. haha

Well you're entitled to your opinion bud. But Gabriel's Walk Thru the Fire
is an absolutely great track and Stevie Nicks' Violet & Blue same thing.
Won't argue some of the music was kinda cheesy but those two cuts above MORE
than make this soundtrack memorable.
It is so awful. It just drones on and on so you can't get into the movie.
