Best racing scene ever?
The sunset boulevard race scene is amazing, and a monumental change from the cheesy 70s films. Even today, I haven't witnessed anything better.

sharei just saw the movie and have to agree that the race scene is nicely done. I also like the chase scenes in Ronin.
shareNot the best,but pretty good.
The best is Ronin (1998) by far!!!!
I HATED the racing scene because it made me hate the "hero" before he had a chance to do much of anything in the story. What kind of self-centered creep races on Sunset Boulevard in the residential area of Beverly Hills? They had literally no honorable motivation to do so whatsoever. The chases in Bullitt, The French Connection, Ronin, etc. might have been a bit nuts (endangering little old ladies, stray cats, and small children running after balls), but at least the protagonists had some rationale for the chase.

Racing fine 5K and you lose your Car in L.A. these days.
I have a friend total a black Spyder Ferrari on Sunset Blvd. Broke his ankle. Was racing Director Michael Bay. No joke.

I like more the car chase scene from Jade.
Loved it; it had the organic feel of a one-take, no permissions obtained shot. Of course, if you count how many time the same 'extras' cars appear again and again (disbelief unsuspended), you realize that it was a carefully crafted scene, probably shot with those old hefty Panavision rigs. I give it the "No CG Here" label.
shareAnyone ever seen the car chase in the movie "Short Time" it's pretty epic in my opinion
Marty. Y'know what we got here? MotherF&%kin' Charlie Bronson. Mr. Majestyk
Ferrari & Porsche are hard to beat. I love the way the engines sound and I like when James Woods goes into the oncoming lane. Plus the drivers are obviously enjoying the race ... and with a minimim of screeching tires.
You know people are going to say French Connection, Bullitt and Seven Ups - all good. I like Against All Odds best.
...and Cary Loftin drove the ferrari, same guy who drove the tanker in Duel. Another epic car chase movie.
