Remake or Sequel?
which would be better? I vote sequel. I feel like this long after with a bunch of older guys would be pretty sweet, plus ellen barkin is still stupidly hot so what do you think people?

shareSequel, no question.

Nice shooting, son. What's your name?
Murphy.
That's a no-brainer there, sequel. A remake would not ever work, under any circumstances. They're already destroying so many 80's greats. It would be better to leave it alone but between them, a sequel would work so much better and the fans would love it.
Impulse: I want a lawyer!
Lex: And I want a Ponytail, disappointment abounds!
" 15:35:06 That's a no-brainer there, sequel. A remake would not ever work, under any circumstances."
Too right. A remakes would require a younger cast, whilst a sequel could bring back original cast members. granted , some of them are looking a little dog-eared now, but....
Amen. Friend for life. Where's the 'Friend for Life' button?
There is something about some movies that just can't be captured in remakes. I'm not always opposed to remakes. There are at least 3 Miracle on 34th Street. I have my favourite, but others have theirs and that's ok. But in this case, the movie should be left alone because a remake would just not work at all.

They kinda left the ending open for a sequel, and had the movie done better at the time they may well have made one. I'm glad they didn't, though.

Otto: This is intense!
Miller: The life of a repo man is always intense.
I read somewhere that most of the cast is ready and waiting for the sequel and have been for some time now though they doubt it'll come to fruition.
Think before engaging mouth.
Well I'm thinking they at least had a plan for it, watch the end credits The Next Buckaroo Banzai adventure Buckaroo Banzai Against The World Crime League, unless that was a joke.
shareDefinitely a sequel.
Also, they should set it just as many years after the original as between the original movie and now, but not as though this is the first adventure since then; they should do it as though there have been like ten BB movies out between then and now, and this is just the latest one (just like the original acted as though we were familiar with the many adventures of the character already).
Thus, the new one wouldn't be "World Crime League" but that adventure would be referred to as one that happened several movies back, as though it had actually come out just a couple of years after "Eighth Dimension."
edked, that's the most sensible concept for a sequel that uses the original actors
"Remember me, Mr. Schneider? Kenya, 1947."
I read long ago that there was a sequel planned (even announced at the end - Buckaroo vs. the World Crime League) so it'd make sense. But I doubt that human criminals would be as hilarious as Red Lectroids all named John!
Still, I'd love to see it, with some younger actors thrown in.
She deserves her revenge, and we deserve to die.
Sequel...they owe it to us but it'll never happen
shareIt already happened.
It was called Big Trouble in Little China.
When BB was marketed incorrectly and did poorly at the box office, the already written script for the sequel, as noted in the end credits, was never made as a BB film.
Instead, they changed the characters and it became Big Trouble in Little China and had a bigger star.

In the words of Lex Luthor, WRONG!!!
Wha???
Big Trouble is the sequel? Say it aint so...
SEQUEL BABY! I paid to see this in the theater on its initial release and it was one of the best cinematic experiences one could hope for. Have been waiting for the the second chapter of the 250 movie series for so long. Let's get it going.
That isn't true at all.
BTiLC was originally written as a Western. It was changed to modern day.
It had nothing to do with BB
I'd be happy with either or. But I am curious as to what a remake would look like.
grrr arg h4x0r 7Eh pl4NE7share
absolutely no to a remake, unless it was going to be a shot-for-shot remake, starring the exact same actors from the original...
which kinda defeats the purpose of remaking it...
*beep* it, just make Buckaroo Banzai vesus The World Crime League already!!
Nicholas Cage as [s]Fu Manchu[/s] Hanoi Xan!!

Considering the campiness of the first film and that I think Cage does hammy acting well, I second your casting choice.
It'll be like Luke Duke and the other guy.
Really?
Yeah.
NO!
Either a Sequel OR...a prequel . It would be very interesting seeing Buckaroo develop all of his epic skills and form his team .

it would almost be a little sad to see them all recast, espcially Buckaroo.
Sequel sequel sequel. And just pick it up like it's 25ish years later in BB and crew's careers, and maybe it takes them 25 years to be ready to take on the world crime league.
Are they all still alive?

I had a terrible case of midichlorians but I replaced them with some CGI butterflies.
