Why would would anyone ever choose RHPS over this?

Buckaroo Banzai has:
- an actual story
- a well-developed universe
- actually funny dialogue and situations
- good acting across the board
- genuine suspension of disbelief
- John Lithgow as an Italian physicist possessed by an evil alien

Does RHPS have that?

No.

Except for one guy who was put ashore on an uncharted island with a coconut-juice-powered DVD player and the pick of only one DVD from the ship's library, nobody has to choose one or the other.
