after he said ‘i wont be returning to this planet again’ in a new hope. and then having him return in this movie. i don’t even know why it was necessary to have them go back to tatooine

he didn’t need to be based on tatooine he could have been on any planet.

True, but unlikely, especially after the 1997 special edition additions.
