I am thinking this movie completely failed? How did I go 34 years without even hearing about this movie. As I am watching it I can tell right away the soundtrack blows. Phoebe Cates is the star...she acts exactly the same as she did in Fast Times. They tried turning her into the next big thing after her fast times standout but it failed miserably. Too bad because with a better soundtrack the movie might have been a bit more memorable.

But to answer your question I would think this movie had problems beyond the soundtrack and I can't imagine it would've helped that much. The writing just seemed a step below compared to similar comedies of the day (which weren't exactly Shakespeare to begin with).
Yeah you're right...the writing is definitely not up to par. I haven't seen the topless horse scene yet. I had to cut the movie short. I had to go out.
