had been tied into the original Halloween - maybe young Michael Meyers' mask was made by Silver Shamrock, and instead of turning kids' heads into rot and worms, the masks controlled the children, making them do murderous deeds.
That is very inventive, mrwitticism, but would detract from Michael Myers. He is so popular because he doesn't look or act quite like any other slasher. His story would be reduced to nonsense if he had thousands of miniature imitations.
Maybe Mustache was successful in warning everyone (though we don't know for certain, as the film's ending was left ambiguous) but years later young Michael Meyers found an overlooked Silver Shamrock mask that he would put on on that fateful Halloween night!
That would be a smooth way to combine our points. You mean that this movie would serve as a prequel instead of a sequel with a few references to the past. The missing mask, instead of Michael Myers himself, could be afflicted with The Curse Of Thor, which would explain why the slasher can't be stopped even though the power behind the Silver Shamrock line has been destroyed. Someone practicing witchcraft for the factory might apply the curse to one mask to ensure that there will be a surviving killer in case if the employees are caught and their control over all of the other children disappears. Halloween III: Season Of The Witch wouldn't be a failure if it had a substantial story, and might even interest fans if it provided a background for Michael Myers.
I somehow don't think Dan was successful. The big giveaway had been going on too long by the final STOPPPP IT that I feel that seconds later (although we don't see it), Dan saw the two kids clutching their heads followed by Dan dragging a bewildered Walter out the door with him by the time the Jerusalem Bugs began pouring out. I just wonder what he said those to those kids' parents. Perhaps "Uh, I don't know how to say it but your children are dead and you don't wanna go in there to see how!"
You may be own to something there. But then again, it being in the franchise does seem appropriate, I mean, Halloween III contains too much Halloween to not be in the series. It's about a massacre that takes place on Halloween. Perhaps maybe if they connected the film to the others, like perhaps maybe the third could have been a prequel but by late '82, the 80s had already kicked in.
I don't agree. The majority of Halloween fans DESPISE Halloween 3 because it has no connection to the first two except for the season itself.
Halloween 3 should be a lone movie. It's not, after all, as if the Halloween franchise has the monopoly on the season, right? There are many other movies that feature Halloween, right?
And in a better world there would be a Halloween franchise that every year provided a new, original concept film... Without another tired slasher villain going through the same paces every goddam time.
You see, when I first saw the movie, that was where I thought they were going with this. I really thought the mask Michael Myers wore was made by Silver Shamrock. Might have been something they were testing out several years before what occurred in this movie.
As I said, they may have been testing the masks out long before, just to see what effect it had on whoever wore it. Michael put the mask on and killed his sister long before Halloween III was to take place.
I'm still glad they didn't try something like this. People would have been at least as annoyed by what would be a very tenuous attempt at a tie-in as they obviously were (and still are) at the omission of the standard slasher villain.
I think I've seen all the Halloween films except the latest and while I will watch the first and second again, my favorite is III. Aside from special cases, I don't care that much for slashers.
