With Trump In Office, New Relevance
One can easily see a nuclear war starting based on the latest Trump tweet could they not?

shareNo. Only liberal idiots would.
I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!
There's no real arguing about my original post. The Day After was specifically made in reaction to the U.S.-Soviet Arms race. Now, Donald Trump has all but called for a new Arms Race over Twitter. So why anyone would even argue that The Day After is not relevant again is beyond me.
shareYou asked about a nuclear war STARTING, not a nuclear arms race.
I joined the Navy to see the world, only to discover the world is 2/3 water!
I think that some people feel that Trump's comment at a briefing about National Security, "If we have nuclear weapons, why don't we just use them?" is a cause for concern.
BTW: In this country I think that we can have disagreements about politics without calling each other stupid, petty names.

There's plenty of arguing over your post - it's extraordinarily unlikely the world will end because of a tweet. Poor little snowflake, you are all in a fantasy-world.
shareEasy sailor, remember most of the people who post comments like that weren't adults during the cold war or were even born then. They have no concept of the terror we lived with when the Soviet Union wanted to rule the world. Hell, most of these people think it's cool to wear "Che" t-shirts, not realizing what a murdering thug he really was.

and don't forget they didn't get their "Participation Trophy". My God, what has this country become?

You REALLY think a nuclear war could start with a stupid tweet? You cannot possibly be that naïve. And it's very obvious you have never spent time in the military.
"We're paratroopers lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded"

Yes I do.
shareWell, then you are more clueless about life than I gave you credit for.
"We're paratroopers lieutenant. We're supposed to be surrounded"

So you're claiming it is physically impossible then?
shareFor a nation, let's say Russia, or China to start dropping nukes, ESPECIALLY over something as minor and stupid as a tweet, would bring such world condemnation, the ramifications would be astounding. So no, another sovereign nation launching nuclear warheads at the U.S. over a tweet would not happen.

LOL. In The Complete Idiot's Guide To the Internet the author wrote:
I've heard it said that the Internet will lead to world peace. As people use the Net to communicate with others around the world, a new era of understanding will come to pass...blah, blah, blah. The same was said about the telegraph and the television, but so far, there hasn't been much of a peace spinoff from those technologies! But what makes me sure the Internet will not lead to world peace (and may lead to a world war) is the prevalence of flame wars in mailing lists and newsgroups. It's pretty amazing how something can escalate. There was a man who started a duel just because someone made an insulting remark about his moustache. And when you get down to it, isn't every war just the natural outcome of a heated argument that got out of hand?
Really? So a duel can be compared to nuclear war. He just sounds like another a55-hurt lib crying over the election of the evil Trump who wants to make America strong again since the military was gutted in the last 8 years and combat-experienced generals and admirals replaced by "yes men and women" for the administration.

Duels are fought when there is honour to defend. The nuclear arms race of the Cold War has been compared to a duel. Though Carl Sagan said it was like "two sworn enemies standing waist deep in gasoline, one with three matches, the other with five." Wars in general, like duels, have a tendency to start over a disagreement where each party is convinced that they are right (or they have God on their side), and feels like they have too much to lose if they back down. The obvious difference between a duel and a war is the number of deaths. But the principle (a release of pent-up agression towards an adversary) is the same.
As for Trump, most Americans who actually made the effort to vote preferred to have Clinton as president. Trump got in because of a loophole. Trump's campaign rhetoric "Make America great again" even contradicts what he said in his victory speech:
"For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, of which there were a few people, I'm reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so that we can work together and unify our great country.”The day Trump was elected, America had suddenly gone back to being "a great country." share

"It isnt [sic] a loophole. Its [sic] not a bug, it's a feature."
Well, if your country gets a president that most voters didn't want, your system for electing presidents is outmoded and flawed. You should change it.
Democracy is great.

Democracy is great.
Of course the U.S. is a democracy! True, it is not a direct democracy, but it is a representive democracy, albeit a far from perfect one. As for Mob Rule since Trump is a populist, it's actually the 'mob' that chose Trump, against the wishes of the ruling eatablishment. Look at all the establishment Republicans the hedged their support for him.
shareCruz is hardly an "Establishment Republican"
And no. We are a Republic.
A "Constitutional Republic" is our form of Government.

Well, maybe Trump can make those welfare kings and queens get off their dead asses and get a job instead of laying up in government housing, "getting their nails did" watching Jerry Springer on the big screens while talking on their Obama phones.

You've got it backwards. Trump is aiming to strengthen ties between the US and Russia. If it's a war with the Russians you're worried about, Clinton would have been the one more likely to take us down that route.

Yeah, I get what you're saying, but I still think that Trump isn't interested in getting involved in other countries affairs. Time will tell.

Give me a break OP. I didn't even vote for Trump and this whole political luring crap is ridiculous.
