Is it just me? Did not care for the film at all!

I am a huge fan of 80's slasher films, but I was very disappointed by this film. I read so many rave reviews for this hailing it as one of the greatest slasher movies ever made so I had to get a copy. The movie moves way to slow, has a strange sub-plot, not neary enough of a body count, leaves so many unanswered questions, was not at all scary either. The mask was cool but the film did not flow. I have a large collection of 80's slasher films but this was certainly a disappointment expecially from all the praise it seems to get. I can certainly see that I am in the minority on this but wanted to put my 2 cents in. Thanks for reading.

I too just bought this on recommendations and was disappointed. I will keep it for now and give it another watch, but it is really disjointed and while the mask is amazing, there just isn't much payoff. The suspense and genuine horror are both lacking. It does have that made-for-tv feel to it. I kind of kept hoping Pennywise would show up...

I thought it was a pretty good movie. My only complaint is that the actresses all kind of looked similar. They were all competing for the same role so that's understandable. But I had a difficult time telling who was who since they all looked the same. Other than that, though, I thought this movie was rather entertaining. I give it an 8/10.

I thought the pacing was okay. I don't think the body count was too low either. I do think some of the death scenes were way too short or non-existent, the characters way too underdeveloped and too many questions left unanswered.

I liked it.

- Some good acting performances from John Vernon, Samantha Eggar & Lynne Griffin.
- Lovely snowy setting.
- Some decent tension building.
- A few minor meta aspects. An early example of such.
- A 'social commentary' on the casting couch and the strive to succeed in Hollywood.
- Some foreshadowing scenes early on.
