I grew up in a mostly white neighborhood in the 1960s, and we ALL had toy guns. Playing "army" was a great diversion that took up many hours. I had a toy Luger that must have weighed half a pound. I wish I still had it just to show how realistic these things can be. And we all had chrome cowboy style six shooters that used those little roll of red caps.

This was just before people started de-evolving socially, and simple things like child play or Halloween costumes didn't offend real vampires, pirates, "witches", cowboys, mummies, ghosts, bums, or those who may have a striking resemblance to Frankenstein's monster.

If you want to quickly identify the true racists, look for those who call others "racist" freely and without logical reason.

Racism is in the eye of the beholder and racism does exist but not one bit in this movie. It's a story told from the POV of a white kid from the midwest, so take each scene in that context. I hope nothing is deleted or banned because of perceived racism, (as was Tom Sawyer in public schools). Yes there's making fun of the
pattern of speech of the restaurant waiters but you know very well
that it wasn't malicious. We kids used to make fun of our grampa who could never pronounce "th" sounds, so thirty third became "turdie turd". We loved him but we still made fun of things he said or did.
