It actually bugs me how all 3 of them live in Thelma's house, she appears to buy all of the food and pays all of the bills. Eunice and Ed don't send any support for Bubba, Vint and Naomi are always broke, spending their money on dumb stuff they can't afford. And on top of that, Thelma does all of the cooking and cleaning and when they're asked to help, they complain.

In the NBC seasons, Thelma and Naomi had a "neighbor feud" that was going strong before Naomi hooked up with Vint. Since some purists of the show claim the syndication seasons "retcon"/erase the NBC years, I'm not sure if their original dislike is at the root of their problems in the later seasons.

Thelma is the type who would find something wrong with anyone any of her kids settled down with. Plus, the show wouldn't have been as interesting if Thelma and Naomi liked one another.

From my perspective, from the viewpoint of the syndicated episodes, the NBC episodes kinda happened but kinda didn't. Like in the Syndicated episodes, I still think there was a time when aunt Fran existed and lived with Mama, BUT I think things may have happened from the view points of the characters differently than what WE the audience actually saw.. If that makes sense lol

Like for e.g. if the family were to recall Vint and Naomi's wedding in a syndicated episode, I'm pretty sure Iola would have been there, probably in tears that Vint was marrying Naomi ~that would have been a huge plot point I think~ Eunice may or may not have even been there, and there would have probably been little to no conflict about the ring.
